UK Riots: The End Of The Liberals’ Great Moral Delusion

UK Riots: The End Of The Liberals’ Great Moral Delusion The Left has gone into overdrive in its attempts to rewrite the history of the riots, but the public knows the truth.

By Janet Daley 20 Aug 2011

There is no national debate about the epidemic of riots and looting that spread through our cities like a bush fire. Out there in the real world, where people go about the normal business of life, there is no sign of the heated argument that the media is so determined to air. In fact, I cannot remember a time when there has been such crushing unanimity on a matter of public importance: the answers to the questions of why this happened, what went wrong when it began to happen and what needs to follow in its aftermath are considered so blindingly self-evident as to be beyond rational disagreement.

At the margins of this consensus, there are some distant noises off. They are the desperate cries of those who fear that they have lost the argument of a lifetime and who want to persuade the great mass of the population that what it saw before its own eyes, hour by hour, night after night on the television news channels was something else altogether.

The Left-liberal camp is in overdrive in its campaign to rewrite history (or, in its own vocabulary, to alter consciousness): you did not see thousands of jubilant thugs rampaging through the streets, destroying livelihoods and property for the sheer exultant joy of it. What you saw were society’s victims responding to any or all of the following: bankers’ bonuses, MPs cheating on their expenses, unemployment, government spending cuts, poverty, social inequality, etc, etc. Their crimes were simply part of the same package of callous selfishness displayed by....

They’d been following the news, reading up on economics, trying valiantly to make their world a better place to live in spite of the challenges of life.

“The End Of The Liberals’ Great Moral Delusion”

Unfortunately not. It SHOULD be. But I’ve spoken to some libtards from England. They think they weren’t liberal enough.

If times were so tough that people had to break into supermarkets to steal the bread and the milk that they could not afford, that would be one thing. But when you see rioters break into stores to steal handbags and expensive sneakers, then you know that there is a fundamental breakdown. There is no respect for property, no respect for authority. There is simply an attitude that "I can do anything I want and get away with it."

The only possible response is to demonstrate that they cannot get away with it, and the price for such anti-social attitudes must be heavy indeed.

There was a time within living memory when all reasonable grown-ups were considered to be on the same side. Parents, teachers, police, judges, politicians – decent citizens of every station and calling – formed an unspoken confederacy to uphold standards of behaviour within their own communities. But their shared values and expectations about human conduct were systematically undermined by a post-Sixties political ideology that preached wholesale disrespect for authority, and legitimised anti-social activity in the name of protest.

The sixties are finally officially OVER.

Because when you push the mentality of enabling people via government handouts, they will never believe they have enough. Ever.

In the US, we declared War on Poverty in 1965. Today, our poor people have color tv's, cell phones, cars, game consoles, health care, and they are obese.

The War on Poverty is over. We've won.

Time to cut way back on the entitlement spending and enjoy the "peace dividend".

There’s no respect for anyone else. In fact much of it was “pay back”. Show the “rich” who’s boss.

I want it, I’m going to take it. It doesn’t matter if you earned it. It doesn’t matter if I destroy your life taking it.

You’re right. The left will simply say its programs didn’t go far enough and double down. No. They really ARE delusional. Seriously.

22 million Mexicans have managed to sneak across our border, swim a river, trek over a blistering , hostile desert and somehow find gainful employment thereby supporting themselves - often without even knowing how to speak English.

Why can’t the useless, lazy welfare sloths?

The average age of these rioters was about 22.
***FROM THE COMMENTS SECTION....THERE IS HOPE!!!!!***

“Someone who is 22 now has spent most of their education and all of their adult life under New Labour’s cultural influence which promoted ideas like no smacking, all lifestyle choices are of equal value, fathers don’t matter, criminals are the victim of society and the unemployed are clients of the state.

We just saw the result of a generation who grew up in a moral darkness and the only place you can point the finger is at the people who switched of the lights.”

I love it. There are those who will deny, but they will now be relegated to the delusional fringe.

The War on Poverty is over. We've won.

Good way of looking at it.

Of course, there will be those who point out that the proportion of people in poverty today is the exact same as in 1965. "We've made no progress", they'll say.

Well, after 46 years, isn't that a reason to quit, too?

Yes, I'm afraid you are correct. Nothing is so difficult as is to admit that long held beliefs are completely wrong. That's a very bitter pill and one that most cannot deal with. So the liberal will double down on stupidity time and time again. To admit they are wrong is not in their DNA. We could have spend 10X the amount on poverty programs (an impossibility to be sure) and the poor would be just as bad off as they now are or perhaps even worst.

I remember back in the late 70's and early 80's both South Africa and then Rhoadesia were much in the news. This was about the time that both countries decided to commit suicide by changing their governments. The liberals were giddy. I knew one such liberal woman (a cousin no less). She was trilled at what was happening. I tried to tell her that in no time flat both countries would be "basket cases". She called me insane and said both countries were on the verge of a renaissance of freedom and prosperity with the newly elected black governments. What a fool? We've all seen the calamity that ensued. It happened just as I said it would. But now when I bring it up, she ignores what I say and tries to change the subject. She has been proved wrong in the extreme but she still will not admit she was wrong.

Michael Savage had it right. "Liberalism is a mental disorder".

Because they don’t have to as long as they are collecting benefits provided by someone else’s toil.

I remember as well. I hate to say it, but one of America's greatest sins was when Jimmy Carter conspired with the Europeans and Communists to destroy Rhodesia. Even now, Carter will not admit what a catastrophe he caused.

Imagine if the Reagan doctrine had been in effect instead of Carter. Rhodesia would be a thriving republic.

Simply stated, when thugs know the law will do nothing to them when they misbehave, except for a slap on the wrist, they will continue to do evil. All average citizens know that. But liberals do not know that. They continue in perpetuating the myth that society makes the poor miscreants do bad things. They never do bad things under their own volition. As long as liberals are in control of the legal system, the thugs will have the upper hand against the average citizen.
