Is TSP a brand name or is that an abbreviation for a chemical? Also, does it get rid of the soap scum in a shower?
Trisodium Phosphate.
Tri Sodium Phosphate TSP
Trisodium phospate (TSP) and I don't know about the soap scum in the shower. TSP is for putting in the detergent, not as a scum remover so I doubt it.
If you have a water softener, the soap scum in the shower fairly goes away completely. If not, CLR is the stuff you want. Spray down, let set for a good while, it will wipe right off. Smelly stuff, works great.
Make sure you get the real TSP - not the TSP-free TSP.
No, I’m not kidding.
Tri Sodium PHOSPHATE. That’s what TSP means.
Probably, but I'd talk to someone more knowledgeable about chemicals before I used it that way. It's pretty potent stuff. Used for cleaning siding and decks before painting.
I have been pretty satisfied with one of the soap scum bathroom sprays like Tilex. Clorox makes a pretty good one called Green Works which actually does a very good job on soap scum and is pretty benign, doesn't fry your lungs. You just need to use it on a reasonably regular basis. I have fiberglass showers and tubs, it works well on them.
TSP is both a chemical, tri-sodium phosphate, and a Brand.
The TSP brand does NOT have the chemical in it.
Try the paint dept. at Lowe’s for the real thing. It’s used as a cleaner/degreaser.
“Is TSP a brand name or is that an abbreviation for a chemical?”
Yes. Both. But there are products out there called ‘TSP’ that have no phosphates. TSP always used to mean TriSodium Phosphate. Now you have to read the ingredient label. Truth in advertizing - NOT!
TriSodium Phosphate is still available at places like Lowes and Home Depot. Go buy some and add it to your diswasher detergent, about 1 part trisodium phosphate to 6 parts dishwasher detergent...white film should stop forming, and might even be removed after a time.
You might even consider a 1 part trisodium phosphate to 2 or 3 parts dishwasher detergent for several washes to try to get the white film off the glasses.
