Skip to comments.Perry: Americans Need Work, Not Symbolism; We Need New Jobs, Not New Agencies
Posted on 08/16/2011 5:56:26 PM PDT by shield
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA Texas Gov. Rick Perry today visited Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he criticized President Obamas proposal to create a new jobs agency as a solution to economic recovery. He also reiterated his call for the Administration to issue a six-month freeze on new regulations to help free employers to create more jobs for Americans.
What is this presidents plan to fix the economy? Apparently to create a new jobs agency, Gov. Perry said. Mr. President, we have tried two and a half years of government creating jobs, its time to let the private sector get to work. Americans need work, not symbolism. We need new jobs, not new agencies. If you want to create jobs, dont create a new agency, and stop all the unnecessary regulations of the agencies you already control.

Perry’s firing at will right now.
Dang. Must admit, I love it.
Amen to that!
Calling this mongrel President...probably sticks in his throat...he knows barry isn’t legally qualified to be in our WH......
Perry is Obama’s worst nightmare, a candidate that’s almost impossible for him to counter and one that will fight back.
Yes, he is...Perry is a fighter...and he’s been watching and fighting the feds...so who better to be running against the jerk than Governor Rick Perry...he says what he means and means what he says...he’ll NEVER backtrack...that’s not how he is made...
6 month freeze??? Hell roll that dog crap back!
And the world takes notice!
And if you wonder about the power of the vacuum...remember when that loudmouth Donald Trump stepped into the vacuum. All eyes were upon him until Obama threatened him (how...we might never know. But he was threatened I am told!).
Well, the vacuum was never filled (no one of note still screams "the emperor has no clothes"...or BC)...and since nature hates a vacuum, Perry can now step into it.
And all eyes are now upon him.
And make no mistake...his accusation that Bernanke was traitorous was directed at Obama.
And Obama took note!
How long before the media compares him to the Norway killer?
That's easy to figure. Obama owns Immeldt who owns GE who owns/owned NBC. Obama probably threatened to have "The Apprentice" cancelled.
Very interesting....I can see how Trump could be threatened...no tellin’ what he has to hide...what about Perry?
I am a ginzo, Wop, Dago, from the Bronx, NY and have to say I am loving this.
it’s like we just moved the battle tanks to the front line.
Perry is saying what we conservatives know and believe. Government and government agencies do not create jobs in the private sector, government must get out of the way and the magic of capitalism will grow jobs and grow our economy.
Obama’s solution is another expensive and useless bureaucracy. He is so out of touch with reality we would be better off if he just stayed on that bus and did sightseeing for the next year.
Perry steps in and instantly gets mad press coverage attacking Obama. No other candidate has been able to score points like this, and he’s only been at it a couple of days.
That’s Governor Perry for you....he just ain’t goin’ take any bs...he’ll not let this commie thugs step on him and his country. They tried to step on Texas...that hasn’t worked out too well for them....they thought they’d win the governors race and Perry stomped all over them.
Oh, it’s from his own website. My mistake.
Last weeks articles were all about “Team Perry” and how they had been with him for 10 years or more. They know how to act, react and attack.
Maybe about the time the ‘media’ figures out how to wipe cow dung off cowboy boots?
Now here in Texas...Perry butted horns with Barry...and Barry lost...so we’re kinda use to it.
I like gettin’ it from the Horses mouth...so to speak...
He’s definitely made a splash. It’ll be interesting to watch. I’m glad he’s in.
“its like we just moved the battle tanks to the front line.”
Yup. The guy’s a real guy. Acts like, talks like and walks like one. Don’t see him on a girl’s bike, that’s for sure.
And that’ll carry over when he is president...the country will fall in love with someone with his record...jobs and economy...along with bashing the likes of barry and his commie thug buddies...
I bet he can throw a baseball too...I know he shoots his guns well...
The first step in the NEED for jobs is to make it a helluva lot harder to get ‘free money’.
Like the “Wizard of Id” cartoon... if you are giving me free food, free housing, free car, free tv, ETC ETC why on earth would I need a job....
that is the mindset we are facing and are spinning our wheels over.
Yep...he’s firing over your head at what you are focusing on.....what about the rest if his agenda?
I’m on the bus.
Yup. Looking more and more like Perry’s gonna win it all.
Jack Wheeler says Perry is our next President...
Perry is the real deal and has an agenda for Americans...he has NO hidden agenda...He has been a fine Governor of Texas...I was proud to have voted for him every time he ran for governor...
Um...Jack Wheeler’s dead.
“Um...Jack Wheelers dead.”
That is the point.
He’s the real deal. 0bama is scared sh1tless.
Can you truly believe it? Obama actually proposed a new federal agency to tackle jobs. Takes tone-deaf to a new level.
34 comments and no Perry flamers. Rare occurence on FR. Diogenesis silent. Perry making waves. I’m kinda excited!
Jack Wheeler's Website. Dr. Jack Wheeler is one of the most respected conservatives in America.
OH...I’m sure when they find it the thread will be hit. I am rather tired of the bashing cause I have to bash back.
If he keeps this up, the inevitable comparisons to Bush will not stand up. Bush never fought like this....

The game played by the Marxists is war where the end justifies the means. No matter how it's dressed up, it's an assault on America's freedom.
We have a government that grows at 8 percent a year, with unelected czars and departments working to do Zer0's bidding -- writing regulation after regulation.
Barack's working hard for the nation And he's needs another vacation Some golf would be nice And the pie he'll have twice As we endure This reeking Obamanation
Countdown until Obama leaves Office: 521 days as of August 17, 2011.
Perry doesn’t need Obama to transform the USA into a communist nation...he’s got 30 million illegals at the ready.
You have to have barry...illegals can’t do to industry, small businesses etc. without the help of the traitors in DC...
I'm thinking it might have been a death threat against one of his children. Whatever it was, his bluster completely evaporated and he clammed up. Not a peep since.
Well, since Obama is a street thug and threats are the Chicago way, I'm almost certain Obama will have some member of his cabal deliver a threat.
But I don't think it'll work with Perry. He's a sitting governor after all...and I think it'll just harden Perry's resolve.
8/16/2011 - NRO — The Corner: “The New York Times reports that in order to increase jobs, your administration is considering creating a Department of Jobs by, among other things, merging parts of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Commerce Department, and economic divisions of the State Department.
Speaking of creating cabinet-level departments, the Energy Department was created in 1977 when the U.S. imported 35 percent of its oil. The departments purpose was to make the U.S. energy-independent. Since its creation, the department has spent hundreds of billions of dollars and has 109,000 employees and contractors. We now import 65 percent of our oil and no new nuclear power plants have been built in over 30 years.
The Department of Education was created in 1980 for the purpose of improving U.S. education. Since then, overall per pupil K-12 spending has increased (in constant dollars) from approximately $6,000 per year to $12,500 per year. Hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent by the department since 1980, yet scores for 17-year-olds on the National Assessment of Educational Progress often referred to as The Nations Report Card have remained unchanged.
Why should Americans expect a Department of Jobs to improve our jobs picture when the Energy Department didnt improve our energy independence and the Education Department didnt improve our test scores?
What will a Department of Jobs do that other agencies dont already do?
Will the Department of Jobs render the Department of Labor obsolete?
How many non-government jobs do you expect the Department of Jobs to create annually and in what occupations? What will be the average cost of creating each job? What will be the Departments initial budget?
The New York Times also reports that White House press secretary Jay Carney, commenting on job-creation proposals, said, If youre talking about a stunt, I dont think a stunt is what the American people are looking for.
How is rearranging bureaucracies, ostensibly to create jobs, not a stunt?
Why isnt this proposal evidence that youve run out of substantive ideas to increase the number of jobs in the U.S.?
You are right...it will not work with Perry.
[The first step in the NEED for jobs is to make it a helluva lot harder to get free money.]
I’d like to see jobs easier to get than free money!
