Karl Rove Slams Perry For Fed "Treason" Comments
Slate ^ | August 16, 2011 | Josh Voorhees

Posted on 08/16/2011 11:36:11 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Rick Perry's "treason" comments are drawing sharp criticism from a wide range of political observers and talking heads, among them Karl Rove.

"You don't accuse the chairman of the Federal Reserve of being a traitor to his country. Of being guilty of treason," Rove, who has clashed with Perry before, told Fox News (via TPM). "And, suggesting that we treat him pretty ugly in Texas — You know, that is not, again a presidential statement."

Rove continued: "If Rick Perry were to be elected president he'd be saddled with Ben Bernanke who has a term. He's an independent chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, appointed by president and confirmed by Congress and serves for a term and the president couldn't even ask him to resign. So, this is — I hope this is not the first of sort of over the top statements."

Politico has a roundup of reactions from some other prominent George W. Bush allies, none of whom had nice things to say about Perry's comments.

Romney has been Rove’s choice for months. It’s another case of the D.C. crowd trying to pick the candidate.

Oran’s Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as “...[a]...citizen’s actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation].” In many nations, it is also often considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government, even if no foreign country is aided or involved by such an endeavor.

In other words: Obama, Reid, Pelosi — all democrats, RINOs and their supporters.

They also morphed him into claiming he was a “prophet.” Good grief.

Rove, you suck. You will never stop sucking. You are everything I despise in Republicans. You are pure evil. You are a communist, socialist f**kface scumbag RINO. If I never hear from you ever again, it will be three weeks too early. Noty enough bad stuff can happen to you. Why anyone employs a RINO shill like you completely baffles me. I hope you rot and die. When you do finally die, I will celebrate just a little less than I did when Ted Kennedy died.

Members of the Ruling Class often strive to protect each other, regardless of party affiliation.

That is exactly right. Karl Rove is BAD NEWS. He is so consumed by elitist political manipulations he is absent all principles. (That is not to say he doesn't indeed know the mathematical computations of political manipulation). If asked he couldn't even define conservatism.

He WILL be used by the Media.

Thus the Tea Party.

People who complain about Bush here are most likely the losin’ liberals.

Perry is nothing like Bush.

Thanks, I agree with you on the fed, and I largely agree with Perry’s sentiment, though I disagree on the notion that he will be helped by using the term. Honesty isn’t always rewarded in politics, but it should pass rather quickly.

>> Independent in theory, dependent in practice.

I *swear* I can see collusion with the Obama regime emanating from the penumbra of the Fed’s so-called independence... but maybe it’s just the August heat. :-)

Bernanke testimony before Congress:

“Either cuts in spending or increases in taxes will be necessary to stabilize the fiscal situation,” Bernanke said in response to a question. “The Federal Reserve will not monetize the debt.”

ROFL!

Were Rove and Robert Gibbs separated at birth?

Of course, that response presumes that Bernanke will actually BE printing money just to help Obama get elected. If he did that, it would be treasonous, because he would be causing great harm to our country.

If Bernanke doesn’t turn traitor, then he won’t be a traitor. Perry simply stated the obvious. If you do something traitorous, you are a traitor. Now people will be watching what Bernanke does, and he won’t feel so free to start printing money.

I'm warming to Perry. Palin is my first choice but she is so stuck on not announcing, that I've almost given up hope she will.

Rove is everything that is wrong with Republicans in one short, fat package.

I hear you.  Coming at the end of the two Reagan terms, with all the discussion of Conservatism vs Liberalism, this guy still hadn't asked himself the question, "Am I playing for the wrong team?"

Wow.

Perry can cloak himself any way he wants, and he's pretty good at it, but in the end, he'll still wind up being seen for the reptile he is.

DoughtyOne, seriously, Rove hates Perry. So do the Bushes. Everybody knows that, at least in Texas. They fought tooth and nail to get him beat in a primary recently. They failed, of course, but they did everything in their power to best him with the RINO Kay Bailey Hutchinson. Rove has also threatened Perry that if he does anything to trash Bush, they WILL come after him now. I’m not asking you to like Perry, but truly, understand the hatred Rove has for him.

Rove is a part of the Republican RINO Establishment which would rather control how they lose, rather than lose control of the party.
