Karl Rove Slams Perry For Fed "Treason" Comments
Slate ^ | August 16, 2011 | Josh Voorhees

Posted on 08/16/2011 11:36:11 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Rick Perry's "treason" comments are drawing sharp criticism from a wide range of political observers and talking heads, among them Karl Rove.

"You don't accuse the chairman of the Federal Reserve of being a traitor to his country. Of being guilty of treason," Rove, who has clashed with Perry before, told Fox News (via TPM). "And, suggesting that we treat him pretty ugly in Texas — You know, that is not, again a presidential statement."

Rove continued: "If Rick Perry were to be elected president he'd be saddled with Ben Bernanke who has a term. He's an independent chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, appointed by president and confirmed by Congress and serves for a term and the president couldn't even ask him to resign. So, this is — I hope this is not the first of sort of over the top statements."

Politico has a roundup of reactions from some other prominent George W. Bush allies, none of whom had nice things to say about Perry's comments.

Thanks DRey. I wasn’t aware of the full dynamics there, and I appreciate you mentioning it.

It just seems to me that when a guy like that does spout off over the top, it’s generally to drive home a point. Having Rove jump in seemed kindof cooked, if you catch my drift.

My premise (as it applied to Rove) was obviously off base. It happens. ;^)

Don’t these out-of-work RINO hack political consultants like Rove have something better to do? Like, oh, attack democrats or something ...?

Exactly what I thought. If the Bushes and Rove are against him, that would make me want to vote for him MORE!

Rove?

Rove? - the guy who told us that we were bigots who hated brown skinned people when he and Bush were trying to drive amnesty down our throats?

Rove is a guy whose time has went. He is no different than Obama - a guy who never had a real job in his life except political organizing but seems to know what’s best for the rest of us who do.

Beck covered this today,
monetizing debt -Paying off government debt by printing more money, leads to inflation .

Basically, he said the whole world is going to be pissed at the American people for this.

Because currencies are tied to the dollar, Bernanke Fed actions are causing prices to rise world wide, especially food. This is contributing to global unrest.

I appreciate the mention of you thinking along the same lines.

DRey came up with a pretty good post here though, that would seem to put that theory to rest. Darn! :^(

Total BS! Rick Perry can make it known that he doesn't want Bernanke around and Bernanke will comply. This is how it has always been. Though these days it is more iffy with the Federal Reserve owning one trillion plus in Federal debt. The Fed is 90% a private Bank

The Bank of the US was a farce to begin with. The same people that put money in, took it out via another pocket.

Perry did not call Bernanke a traitor. He said that to pump the money supply for the purpose of bolstering the political fortunes of an incumbent would almost be treason.

His statement was correct.

Greenspan offered his resignation to W back in 2001. He said that the president should have the Fed chairman he wants.

Is Bernanke printing money for political purposes? What purpose is that?

Rove just won’t fade away he needs to STFU what did he do for the USA? Is he afraid the term treason might be thrown his way next?

The more a candidate does the opposite of what Rove says, the more likely I will support them. Rove almost single-handedly destroyed our party with his advice to our last president.

I turn off Fox when he shows up.

I don’t know the origins of the bad blood between Perry and the Bush gang, but it is there and the Bushes did support Kay Bailey Hutchinson against Perry in Perry’s reelection campaign last year.

I wouldn’t put it past the Bushes to have calculated that Obama will win reelection, and that they actually want him reelected to leave things open for Jeb in 2016. And they might not be too happy if anything seems to be threatening that strategy.

The political elite of whatever philosophy look out for their personal interests.
