Obama Versus Obama ... Victor Davis Hanson
The Hoover Institute ^ | 11 Aug 2011 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 08/12/2011 12:35:50 AM PDT by Rummyfan

President Barack Obama is more exasperated than ever as polls dip, critics multiply, and none of his massive borrowing seems to jump start a stalled economy. He seems bewildered that House Republicans did not immediately agree to his tax increases proposals, and confused over why his serial calls for civility are noted—but quickly forgotten. Obama is also perplexed that businesses—in theory flush with cash after massive layoffs and budget trimming—do not listen when he presses them to start hiring. He cannot quite fathom why his conservative critics do not fully appreciate his achievement of eliminating Osama bin Laden. And the more he now talks about illegal immigration, the wackier fly his metaphors and the more edgy the slurs. What happened to the legendary Obama, the "god" whom Newsweek deified in 2008, and who was declared the "smartest" president ever by historian Michael Beschloss?

Marxist political theory does not work in practice. Maybe if Obama’s goons could kill 30 or 40 million Americans, he could force his kind of government on us.

Kill 40 million of the people who provide jobs and expertise? Sure, if you want to starve the survivors to death.

That's the way Communism works.

Obama is also perplexed that businesses—in theory flush with cash after massive layoffs and budget trimming—do not listen when he presses them to start hiring.

That's because 0 talks from the 'experience' of a community organizer and a politician.

To 0, it's a simple thing to 'create' jobs, because he has never really had a consequence of failing -- a community organizer's goal is to get people to stir themselves enough to get into government programs, and to vote for people who will start or expand those programs.

For a politician, a successful program is one that gets more money when it runs into trouble.

A failed program is one that gets a LOT more money when it runs into trouble.

But in either case, it's not really a matter of politicians using their own money to keep the program floating -- they simply print some more bucks, or write a few more IOUs, and presto! -- there's more money.

Better than a tree in the back yard.

Perhaps if 0 had had some experience in the real world of earning a living, he'd have a clue.

I hope Obama’s term will bury the idea forever that one has to have extensive real-life experience in order to even consider running for the presidency.

One can never have enough experience for the job, but come on, folks, we have to have SOME standards.

If Obama is going to claim credit for killing Osama then he also has to take responsibility for the latest deaths in Afganistan! Teleprompter reader in chief can’t have it both ways. Afghanistan is Obama’s war. He set the troop level, and created the time table for withdrawal!

In short, Barack Obama has lost credibility because on any given issue, his most recent declaration—delivered with the now familiar emphatic qualifiers, "let’s be honest," "make no mistake about it," "let me be perfectly clear"—will be seen as contrary to what senator, candidate, or president Obama had earlier asserted. Presidents can get away with such opportunistic revision on one or maybe two key topics, but not on nearly all of them. The reason Obama is slipping in the polls is not due to the Tea Party, the Republicans in the House, House Speaker John Boehner, or Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell—but because of his own doppelganger, who at various times is the greatest critic of none other than the latest incarnation of Barack Obama.

And that's, that.
