In the early 1970's there was a corn shortage caused by a fungus-leaf blight. No corn = no beef. Kinda like is happening with the drought = no hay= less beef/more expensive beef. Farmers can't keep their herds. Some places, hay has gone from forty bucks a bale to 100 or more. I remember eating lots of venison, and also horsemeat when beef was so high.
