This is the failed concept of “community policing” where the police are immersed into the neighborhood where trust was supposed to increase.
Instead, the neighborhoods moved further away from the police and turned more towards the gangs and criminals.
Only a fool believes the police and criminals will have trust. If the police get nicer, the criminals get nastier. If the police become timid, the criminals become bold.
In most inner cities, the police have lost control because they are not tough enough. Community policing is and was a joke to the criminals. It was a free pass to be criminals.
It will be the same with the terrorists.
The police are tough enough. It is the court system and the Judges who are not tough.
