WASHINGTON The National Rifle Association on Wednesday filed a lawsuit challenging a new federal regulation requiring gun merchants along the border with Mexico to report bulk sales of certain semiautomatic rifles, contending that the Obama administration exceeded its powers by imposing the rule last month without Congressional permission.
The N.R.A. is bringing the lawsuit in the name of two firearms dealers in Arizona. Its complaint asks a federal judge in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia to issue an injunction barring enforcement of the rule by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
N.R.A. has always viewed this as a blatant attempt by the Obama administration to pursue their gun-control agenda through back-door rule making, and the N.R.A. will fight them every step of the way, said Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the gun-rights group.
But Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said the Justice Department would fight the N.R.A. challenge.
We will vigorously oppose that lawsuit, Mr. Holder told reporters on Wednesday...

The dispute over the regulation comes at a time when the firearms bureaus efforts to investigate straw purchasing and smuggling across the border to Mexico has come under sharp Congressional scrutiny related to Operation Fast and Furious, an effort by the agencys Phoenix division to uncover a large network of cartel-linked gunrunners.
In that operation, federal agents monitored straw buyers who bought about 2,000 guns, but did not intervene to arrest them or seize the weapons because they were trying to identify higher-ups in the network. But the bureau then lost track of many of the guns, some of which were smuggled into Mexico and two of which later turned up at the scene of a shootout in Arizona where an American Border Patrol agent was killed.

Once again the NYT asserts something as fact when in reality all that they are doing is parroting Obama administration spin.
How about stating it like this:
"In that operation, federal agents allegedly monitored straw buyers who bought about 2,000 guns, but did not intervene to arrest them or seize the weapons because they were trying to identify higher-ups in the network, government officials claimed. "
Rhetorical question only - one would expect that of a professional journalist, but not from the New York Times.
Why sue? They should just get their buddy Dingy Harry to overturn the regulations.
I’m reasonably impressed.
I think I’ll join up again, if they’ll have me.
Fixed it!
Come on in. The water's fine. When you see life membership for a discount, grab it.
We will vigorously oppose that lawsuit, Mr. Holder told reporters on Wednesday...
“And we will vigorously oppose your BS,” Mr.Stevie_D_64 told the AG later that day...
IMHO everyone should patronize this Dealer. They sell everything Firearms related. Including C&R weapons. They need support in their fight against the tyrants in DC.
It's: J&G Sales.com
Btw, The prices they charge for Firearms are unbeatable. I've checked on numerous guns and they are by far the lowest. It's almost where you wonder if they make a profit. They also have the sweetest FAL .308 I've seen at that price. Plus a CETME 308 Sporter I'm also drooling over.
And for the 'lucky ones', they also sell Class III weapons.
Thanks for the info & link!
