-- I'll do some more reading into the finer details. --

I haven't read through this, but it's probably a reasonable overview, and it may point to the relevant Supreme Court decision on the origination clause.

The Origination Clause of the U.S. Constitution: Interpretation and Enforcement : CRS-RL31399, June 2008

did you know that the speaker of the house doesn’t even have to be in Congress, or even in the government whatsoever. Anyone in the country can be elected speaker. They could elect Rush Limbaugh speaker of the house if they wanted to. or whoever. They could elect W speaker if they wanted to.

just an interesting tidbit i found out.

Attacking smokers. You are no conservative.

I believe it refers to what smokers do in the boudoir and having a smoke afterwards.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t any Senator object to unanimous consent?

When a UC order is proffered, any Senator may object. That happens fairly often, but either the proffered order is set up to be shot down, or there is a reasonable adjustment.

Whenever a UC proffer is made, it is with the knowledge of ALL senators, even if they are not in the chamber. In other words, there is no "sneaky business" when it comes to UC proffers.

So, the UC proffer that Reid entered today was run past all Senators, and none of them asserted a decision to object. Once made, the only way a UC order can be reversed is by UC, again. That is, once given, a single senator can't revoke his consent.

Objecting with fewer than 40 like-minded senators is an exercise in futility. I think a few of them are pissed, DeMint and Sessions come to mind.

Happy to leave idiots alone.

Now you should go back to praying to saint Sarah. Maybe you can get her to announce that she is running.

Wow. You’ve been wrong about today’s vote. Wrong about my campaign contributions. Wrong about what presidential candidate I’m supporting for 2012. And now you’re so drunk on your own ego you’re stuttering. Your mother must be so proud!

I got that. It was a cheap shot, and not well thought out. Boehner deserves better for his efforts.

This is the list of 66 real fiscal conservatives in the House.
#33, Jordan, leads the RSC.
