Even IF some medical benefit could be shown to marijuana, smoking it would not be the health conscious delivery method

It’s a monkey to beat, but then again, he probably thinks his time is limited and what the heck.
After all that pain though, I can’t imagine wanting more when the cancer re-occurs, which is most certainly will.

quit in 1976.... 2 packs a day...smoking for 14 years...
you have to decide to quit...you have to want to quit....and you have to go cold turkey....
now after 35 years, I still have a slight urge to have a cigarette after a cup of coffee...
a nasty habbit that requires one to make a life decision and not a ‘for now I will quit but will start again when I feel better’ decision...

Could it also be that he is not cured and his days are limited?
I'm on attempt #9. Going well so far.

Way back when my mom was dying of cancer. I thought she was nuts to continue smoking. Doc pulled me aside and said to “let her do what she wants with the time she has, won't make a difference”. He was right.

It's possible Douglas was smoking medical marijuana or another substance other than tobacco

Michael Douglas has the right to smoke (marijuana or tobacco) cigarettes on his yacht, if he wishes. That he is very likely risking a recurrence of throat cancer is his risk to take. He is not harming anyone but himself by smoking, he is just being incredibly stupid, which is also his prerogative. That having been stated, should Michael Douglas develop cancer again, he will definitely not receive any sympathy from me. I quit a 32-year smoking habit 'cold turkey' back in 1989. Millions of people have done the same. Smoking is definitely an addiction but more mental than physical. One has to want to quit smoking, not just wish to quit or because of being nagged to do so. I quit because I wanted to, for all the usual reasons, including being an example to my then-10-year-old son. who had implored me to quit smoking. I also was afraid of developing cancer from smoking. If I - and millions of others - can quit smoking, so could Michael Douglas. That he chooses not to is not my problem. That he may well develop cancer again is his problem and if that happens, I won't be happy but I won't be terribly sad, either. He's a fool, plain and simple. Proving once again that money and fame are no measure of intelligence.

If they were allowed to do research on MM and it were more widely legal, drug companies could come up with an inhaler system.

I quit cold turkey once for 3 years and vowed I would never smoke again. Started back and then quit again cold turkey 12 years ago. I have no personal experience with drug addiction but I would guess that nicotine is as addictive as heroin. The hardest thing I ever did was quit smoking. Its like losing a friend.

Why doesn’t the media and everyone else just mind their own damn business?
If the guy wants to die smoking, so be it.
(Besides, I’ve always had a thing for Catherine Zeta-Jones. This could be my chance).
