“Good try!”
Not trying anything, just asking a question.
“I believe marriage, as defined by the majority of our society for the past 235 years, should be between a man and a woman. Not a man and a man, not a woman and a woman, not a couple of women and a man, not 10 women and 10 men.”
This is also my opinion, but not for the same reason. Once these folks get married in some state that allows it, they will be moving to states that do not and will be challenging DOMA which the Obama administration will not defend. Basically they demand that you and I not just tolerate, but approve of them.
I do not however believe that we can say “I believe in and love the U.S. Constitution!” (except when it allows things to happen that I don’t like.”
My favorite amendment besides the 1st and 2nd is the tenth. I don’t want the federal government telling states what to do, even if it is something that I agree with.
I probably sound crazy but I blame that on lack of coffee and the fact that as I get older I tend to be sounding some of the time like a libertarian...”You leave me alone, I leave you alone, we’re all happy.” really appeals to me lately.
We don't live in a society which the majority rules. We live in a society which a politically powerful minority rules.
Sorry for misinterpreting your prior reply. My feelings of Gov. Perry's stance does annoy me. It seems like a perfect political answer in order to claim both sides of an issue.
FYI
Perry apears to be walking back his prior statement.
