Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid warned Tuesday that Republicans' deficit-reduction bill is "dead on arrival" in his chamber, as the Obama administration issued a formal veto threat and pushed lawmakers to reach a "compromise."

White House officials appeared to hold back earlier Tuesday when asked whether President Obama would veto the GOP bill, which could be voted on in the House as early as Wednesday. But the administration issued what's known as a "statement of administration policy" Tuesday afternoon saying the president's advisers "would recommend that he veto this bill" should it clear Congress.

In other words, Obama would veto a bill which had made it through the Dem-controlled Senate?

(Can't get to your desk unless it makes it thru both chambers, Dumbo.)

Good for the veto. The Boehner plan is a joke.

Republican’s should just keep making the same bill more and more cutting and attach a new number to it. Obama owns this mess regardless of the belief of his 23% moonbat base.

Indeed!
They need to start adding whole agencies to the cut-list: ATF for its acts of war against Mexico sounds like a good start.
And keep telling the public EVERY time it gets vetoed that they [the Congress] IS trying to fix the debt problem.

I’ll give Obama credit for one thing. I’ll bet debt ceiling has to be in the google top 20.

Looks like Obama’s chickens have come home to roost.

Let’s call his bluff.

I really don’t care any more.

What’s cutting only $1billion this year when we have unfunded liabilities of over $100,000,000,000,000? That’s not a typo, folks.

We are so screwed and both DIMS AND PUBS are laughing their way to the power bank—right to our faces!

Liberty squandered.

Yup. It may all just be a bunch of smoke and mirrors to get back to Jimmah interest rates to monetize the debt.

It's NOT a veto threat.

The White House is saying aids would recommend Obama veto the bill.

This is scare-mongering with the home the press will report the spin, not the facts. The actual statement leaves Obama huge wiggle room to sign the bill.

Remember your Clintonian parsing!

Pass it in the house and let Harry Reid refuse to take a vote in the Senate and Obama continue to veto. They will fully own this mess, no matter how much they want to blame Republicans.
