“Gaskell Romney, Mitt’s grandfather, settled in Mexico as well, and Mitt’s father, George Romney, was born in nearby Colonia Dublan “

Interesting when he (George)ran for President I don’t recall that being brought up.

It was brought up by several that I remember. 1967 or 1968 was over forty years ago but US News & World Report and several columnists like James J. Kilpatrick and M. Stanton Evans may have been where I read about George Romney’s birthplace in Mexico.

It was cussed and discussed at the time. It was an interesting tidbit of no great import.

It is hard to remember what was brought up during George Romney’s run because it ended so early and his brainwashed comment dominated his demise.

I don’t think his campaign had reached that level of scrutiny yet, but he faded pretty early and pretty fast.
