The Ride for 9-11 is officially underway. Southern California area firefighters, both active-duty and retired, departed this morning from the LAFD Historical Society Museum located at Old Fire Station 27 in Hollywood. The 3,308 mile bicycle ride across the United States is being undertaken in order to honor and keep alive the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice 10 years ago and those who continue to fight for our freedom and safety today.
The Ride for 9-11 will cross 15 states over the next 47 days with riders slated to arrive in New York at the FDNY Firefighters Memorial on September 9, 2011 to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. Along with honoring those who lost their lives in the attacks, riders are raising money for the Leary Firefighters Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Fire Department Network News will be following the riders along their route and providing updates on their progress across the country.

I hope this goes safely. There are so many crazy people on the road who are not careful around bike riders or, worse, are aggressive toward them. When they encounter a large group, some of them freak out and act stupidly.
Looks like a great event for very worthy causes.
That must mean they need a beer summit to fix the problem.
Some cyclists can be idiots as well, so I don't want to put the blame all on drivers. As with anything in life, if both sides try to be courteous and accommodate each other, there isn't a problem.
I think you’re on the wrong thread, amigo.
Never forget.
FWIW.... I got it.
Wow,That’s a long ride.
Yes, it’s a long ride. I’m a little worried about them; they look so skinny already!!
