A great story of one of our more impressive military men. Also go to
Junius Ponds Fatal for other stories with added details.
Hope that Army Sgt. Jacob Perkins gets some added recognition from his command.

The EPA should claim responsibility for this event. The emission controls on diesel engines are a joke. I drive a fire engine on a volunteer department. Our engine has the last generation system without the Diesel Exhaust Fluid. On fire equipment the exhaust regeneration cycle can be postponed yet the system request must be acknowledged. On other applications the regeneration request must not only be acknowledged but performed.

An amazing story of courage and compassion. It says a lot for our US military.

Sgt. Perkins deserves as much recognition as can be given. I think, though, that he is but one more example of the quality and ability of ALL of the members of the US Armed Forces. Whenever, or where ever you need help, you’re a whole lot better off if someone from the US armed forces is near by.

Thanks for the ping, brityank.
Army Sgt. Jacob Perkins acted heroically and deserves recognition from his command.
It’s heartening to know our military do the right thing when confronted with adversity by putting their own safety aside for others.

I believe the “Soldier’s Medal” was created for acts of non-combat valor such as these.
