It goes against my custom as a descendant of Swedes to stick up for a Norwegian, but when Quisling radioed to Norway’s ships that they should return to Norway or a Nazi controlled port, not a single one of them did, denying their use to the Nazis. Quisling was a quisling, but there were many Norwegians who did the right thing when it wasn’t the easy thing.
Did you hear about the Swede who was mistaken for a Norwegian? He had just gotten out of the hospital after a long illness.
Heh, heh. My two favorite Swedish-accent quotes:
“Volvo, vee build dem da vay vee build dem, because vee have to!” (old radio ad, spoken with a suitable lilt).
Walter Lantz character Wally Walrus concerning his nemesis Woody Woodpecker:
“Dis time, I’m gonna take care of dat voodpecker, vunce and for good!”
Speaking of lilts, I have read that not only is the city of Malmo being taken over by Muslims, but that they are speaking Swedish with no lilt or inflection at all, very flat-sounding to native Swedes.
