Hizbollah can’t step in anymore. They’ve been doing Assad’s dirty work where his own soldiers won’t, and they are now hated in Syria. They can try, but it won’t quell the unrest, and they can’t attack Israel if the people on the streets are up in arms and soldiers are mutinying. This is probably the only positive thing that will ever come out of the “Arab Spring,” the disintegration of the three-way Shiite/Alawite axis between Lebanon, Syria and Iran. A few choice words from the Ayatollahs of Iraq undermining the Iranian Ayatollahs’ authority would be icing on the cake.
