Yes, Phil Gramm was much more conservative than the two RINO senators Texas has now. Zell Miller could have switched parties and would have been more conservative than most current (R) senators.
hehe
I was thinking more along the lines of “Isn’t that precious?”
You don’t have to like Texas, or Texans, because chances are we probably don’t like you back.
you also have 47% of voters that pay no income taxes and most are on the government dole and they will come in full force to keep their handdouts going from Obama, especially in a brutal economy.
>>>Screw Texas<<<
lol - thanks for adding at least another 50 posts to this awesome thread ...

I don’t want the responsibility of having a ping list, any ping list.
I am sure a volunteer will emerge. :)
Some of those, yes, will always be drones for nanny government, no matter who is pushing it. But many within my own sphere of influence are people who pay little to no federal tax yet very sharply understand this president to be a threat to basic assumptions of the American experience, free markets, a functioning job market, personal liberty, national security, and such like. Do not underestimate the power of an overplayed hand. This emperor has no clothes, and enough people now know it to make a real difference and they will do the right thing come November 2012.
Well, you know as well as I do, that what we want and what we get are two entirely different things...
I do like the three amigos (Abbott, Patterson and Combs), they are proven conservatives across a wide spectrum of elected government services...
Much more than Wentworth, Patrick and Strauss...
I rag on Patrick because he has a proven record of inconsistancy, and sometimes briliance in the way of self promotion that does not lend well in my book of political service...We’ll just have to agree to dissagree on him...His S.B. 905, torked me to no end this last session and those that helped that abomination along were no help to this state...
When you and I get to Austin, there might very well be a lot of local FReepers singing our praises...And for the right reasons...
I believe we know the job is MORE than just a campaign to get in there and get to work every other year...
Bottom line, Texas will fare much better than the rest of the nation because of a solid base, and representation by conservatives...But we got to remain tenacious and committed to protect that from the liberals who are always looking to whittle away at that base...
Abbott..Patterson?
Yes, and Yes...
Those two, along wityh another purposeful ommission Combs are a few folks that don’t bang and clang symbols about their futures...
They’ll step up when the time comes...
Otherwise Jerry will form another “un-exploratory” committed to NOT run for a particular office to get the yammerheads (media) off his back...He’s said that before...I thought it was funnier than all get out...
Judge (ret) Ted Poe would be good.
He was creative on the bench, as well.
I think the judge is due for a promotion soon...From what I hear he’s been rather effective in D.C. so far...Those folks in that district are lucky to have him there...
He’s one of the few...
OK, I see otherwise.
Combs is good, but is a KBH Republican, not v conservative.
Patrick is a real conservative who on multiple occassions has gotten the Texas Senate to do something conservative. He carried sonogram bill and other bills.
Dan Patrick tried to get the Republicans to committ to conservative principles, and succeeed in 2010.
dunno about sb905, but if that is TSA bill, I can say point-blank Straus is the one who stopped TSA bill and Patrick was trying to get it done.
I dont think Dan Patrick would win in a state-wide primary up against a Dewhurt or Abbott for Gov, so would be smart to hang tight for a bit.
To put it another way: They dont pay income taxes BUT WISH THEY HAD A JOB WHERE THEY COULD.
A job-killing President needs to be an ex-President.
Yeah, I would accept him staying put for a while longer...He’s not in my district, so I only get to roust him when Harris County gets together once a quarter...
You need to go check out SB905...It will give you a clear understanding why I have an unalienable difference of opinion with him...
But, remember, I am not a one issue constituent, I have broadened my resume’ somewhat ovcer the years...Its a great hobby!!!
Yeah, I know...I’m a sick man...;-)
Harumph!!! Harumph!!! Harumph!!!
Hey!!! I didn’t get a Harumph outta that guy!!!
Choosing the most powerful and the most popular Governor in
America who was also a Republican, as the Vice Presidential candidate, was the right choice for any Republican Presidential candidate to make.
Thank God that Palin was there to help give us the history making 2010 elections.
Amen.
Texas politics.... Damn !
