Can somebody explain Perry’s work as Al Gore’s campaign manager in Texas?

Has Perry repudiated Gore since?

And if Perry hasn’t, why won’t he?

The Perry fans will claim that Al Gore was a "conservative Southern Democrat" at the time, which is a gross exaggeration. He was a phony and the punk son of a sleazy career politician who took money from fellow-traveller and Stalin fan Armand Hammer.

Even more disturbing than the Gore issue is the way Perry, this so-called "Christian social conservative" supported Rudy Giuliani for President in 2007, then switched to notorious RINO McCain when Rudy dropped out.

Yes. To all the above. Recall also that Gore was once prolife.

Perry backed Gore in 1988 in the Dem primaries. Perry was a Dem in his 30’s. He has actually publicly made fun of ALgore since.

speaks glowingly

I thought it was a pretty balanced article and learned a couple of things:

Didn't realize his family had been so poor while he was growing up. Or that he had spent so much time alone on the land.

A horse, a dog and room to wander. Reminds me of my childhood.

......."During his time in Congress, [Al] Gore was considered a "moderate" (he referred to himself as a "raging moderate") opposing federal funding of abortion, voting in favor of a bill which supported a moment in silence in schools, and voting against a ban on interstate sales of guns. His position as a moderate (and on policies related to that label) shifted later in life after he became Vice President and ran for president in 2000…”…… Source

Rick Perry: Al Gore's gone to Hell

Perry does not believe there is valid scientific proof of anthropogenic global warming. He has said several times that there is no scientific consensus on the issue.

On September 7, 2007 Perry gave a speech to California Republicans. He said, "Virtually every day another scientist leaves the global warming bandwagon. ... But you won't read about that in the press because they have already invested in one side of the story."

Momma Perry knows quilts, not politics, doesn't know if son is running for president [snip]..........."The governor's mother said she isn't involved with politics on any level and spends most of her free time making quilts.

"I don't sell my quilts, but I will give them away to special people," she said.

Perry said that when her children were growing up, she made all of their clothing.

"They didn't have store-bought clothes — I made them," she said."...........

Nellie Doneva/Reporter-News Amelia Perry(right), mother of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, shows her quilts at a meeting of the Buffalo Gap Republican Woman's Club at Perini Ranch Steakhouse Friday. Perry called this quilt her "Scarlet O'Hara" quilt, because she made it out of a curtain during a time she was getting cancer treatments and spending most of her time at home.

You mean she supported the republican presidential candidate and the lifelong republican senator that she shared the ticket with, yes she did, that is not quite the same as being democrat presidential candidate Al Gore’s chairman.
