Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said Friday that he will push for legalizing same-sex marriage in the upcoming legislative session.
"I certainly plan to be very active in support of it, and we'll have other announcements in upcoming months," O'Malley said at the National Governors Association meeting in Salt Lake City.
O'Malley has long supported civil unions and has said that if lawmakers passed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, he would sign it.
But Friday marks the first time O'Malley has made same-sex unions a legislative priority.
The Democratic governor said he would favor a measure in Maryland that mirrors the same-sex marriage law recently enacted in New York, which protects religious organizations from being required to ordain same-sex marriages.
"I think we can learn from what they did," O'Malley said. "One of the things we're looking at in the drafting is how their clauses with regard to religious freedom were different from ours. That might improve our efforts."
Another CINO governor caves.
Another Democrat governor was pro-homosexuality all along.
Present homo-sexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as normal, natural, healthy.
Cuomosexualist wannabe.
Freegards, thanks for all the pings
And he continues to receive the Eucharist within the Archdiocese of Baltimore. One reason they don’t get a penny of mine.
So the Fags in government come marching out!
I live in MD - the state legislature tried to push this through during its last session. It died without even getting out to O’Malley’s desk.
The sponsor of the bill lives in Prince George’s County, which is majority black and very religious. The citizens of the county [as well as a majority state-wide] oppose it.
The religious leaders in PG County told the legislators from that county that they would get them defeated in the next election. She then voted AGAINST her own bill getting out of committee - the other legislators also flinched ...
Next year is election year - I seriously doubt whether any push for a bill by O’Malley would have any effect.
Even if he could get it ram-rodded through, we have referendum here and certainly enough signatures would be gathered to place on the next election ballot where it would be defeated.
We just did this for the cockamamie Dream Act that the legislature just passed against the citizens’ wishes. The referendum is about to be certified for the next election ballot and will go down to defeat ...
You mean the Archdiocese of Baltimore implement Church Discipline?? Or the American Catholic Church - your kidding.
Even Teddy Kennedy, while exposing Abortion (without baptism) got the Eucharist and was not Excommunicated.
It's all about the Rich and Powerful, getting away with it while the rest of America goes to Pot.

Read Mno56's comments - he knows the actual situation in MD. Sounds as though the sicko governor is making a statement to pull leftist/homo support. Amazing how blind people are; moral blindness is the very worst kind. Blinds a person to every truth, and what they still manage to see, is skewed badly.
Why not-—then O’Malley can change the name of their baseball team -— The Baltimore Glory holes.
this guy makes CINOs look conservative
O Malley, and Pelosi
Must be the Baltimore water, too much lead
We in MA tried the referendum route to cement marriage as one man-one woman. We got double the signatures that we needed, unfortunately, in order to get the referendum actually ON the ballot, the legislature had to vote its approval. During this process, the Supreme Judicial Court jumped the gun, and by fiat, made same sex marriage legal. Then Deval Patrick got elected, and 'convinced' five legislators who had announced they would support the referendum to change their minds, and we were denied our vote on the matter.
Too many folks have the notion that homosexual marriage won't ever affect them, so why NOT allow it? They don't realize that it isn't just marriage that's at stake. Catholic Charities had to close down its adoption services, because it wouldn't place children with homosexual singles or couples, and it was sued for discrimination, based on the marriage law. If the owner of a company that caters to weddings didn't agree with homosexual marriage, and declined to offer it's services to a homosexual couple, it would be sued out of existence, using the specious discrimination charge again. Homosexuals liken someone's refusal to accommodate them to white people refusing to accommodate blacks during Jim Crow. It's not the same; homosexual is not an immutable condition like race or ethnicity.
Bush and Obamao constantly pushing for Amnesty.
Owe’Malley pushing for gay marriage.
The fun never ends with these people.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
“we have referendum”
I wish we had one in New York State.
