The news-rag in question is owned by Rupert Murdock (who owns Fox) and are trying to use this scandal to take down Fox

The whole Murdoch empire is beginning to creak and crumble, which will have global ramifications

Maybe Murdoch will sell Fox to someone in the US that isn’t connected with ANYTHING in Jolly Olde England. The British have demonstrated a remarkable lack of gravitas since their high point with Winston Churchill

I can’t understand why Murdoch kept her on after the payments to police officers scandal back in 2003.

She should have been locked up years ago. She looks like she came right out of a horror movie.

Why do we care in the US?

Murdoch is now a US citizen and he owns media here too. In any event, what goes on in the rest of the world has an effect on our country, its politics, and its well-being, either immediately or potentially. Isolationism on FR is concerning, IMHO.

Either that, or Robert Plant in drag.

I thought it was the son who signed off on the payment deal.

This is getting dangerously close to a witch-hunt.

If a newspaper can do it, does anyone doubt for second that governments can, and do? For years? Regularly?

She is Rupert Murdoch’s right hand woman - he refused to accept her resignation ten days ago but accepted her second resignation on Friday, they must have know she would be arrested.

She was due to be called before a committee of Parliament with her boss Rupert Murdoch but now that she has been arrested she will not offer any information.

She was editor of the News of the World, which folded last week, at the time the hacking of politician, murder victims, Royal family and soldiers who lost their lives in Afghnistan. In the US they are checking to see if she was involved in the 9/11 victims.

The Sun is also a Murdoch tabloid.

How is it a witch hunt?
A witch hunt is what it is, because there are no witches. Here, there really are bad people who should be punished.

There should be punishment for the crimes committed, without question. Let's see if there is an investigation into any of the other British tabloids, TMZ or National Enquirer with equal zeal. Or, as I suspect, this will primarily be about busting up Murdoch's empire because of his politics.

The left dominates the press and their hate for all things Murdoch knows no bounds. They will rally their forces to take him down.

Who is she? This is boring beyond belief. This country is collapsing like a train wreck in slow motion and the left wing wants this local news trivia. Did you know you can’t “hack a phone”? tell me how?
