Rep. Louis Gohmert (R.-Texas) yesterday artfully declined to say that President Barack Obama was lying when he said he could not guarantee Social Security checks would go out after August 3 if there was no deal on the limit. Gohmert would only say he knew from the rules of the House of Representatives that the president "never lies"--an apparently sarcastic reference to the plight of Rep. Joe Wilson (R.-S.C.) who rebuked Obama with a famous shout during a 2009 speech to a joint session of Congress.
While weighing in on the debt ceiling debate Gohmert said at a Capitol Hill press conference, "Now, it’s ‘seniors, you have to worry that you won’t get your Social Security check'."
Gohmert then added, "We know from the House rules that the president never lies but he is taking advice and information from somebody apparently who is willing to lie. Because it’s just not true. The fear-mongering needs to stop."
It’s likely the Texas GOP member was sarcastically referencing Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.).
It was in September of 2009 that Rep. Wilson was rebuked for shouting “You lie!” at President Barack Obama during a health care speech the president was giving before a joint session of Congress.
The House ratified a “Resolution of Disapproval” against Rep. Wilson for the outburst. The resolution is among the softest forms of punishment the House delivers.

Obama doesn’t lie.He just refuses to tell the truth.
Clinton would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth.
But 0bama’s a different animal.
If the truth will advance Marxism, he’ll use the truth,
if a lie will serve better, he’ll lie,
but the advancement of Marxism is the paramount goal.
Obama didn’t lie, to my ears. He just flat out said he won’t guarantee delivery of SS checks. There was a little shuffle by saying “can’t” instead of won’t, thus implying somehow things were beyond his control. But of course we all know prioritizing funds will be perfectly within his control, and as such when he says he can’t guarantee something he means he freely chooses not to guarantee it.
Marxism is nothing but a lie. If you cannot own anything as an individual, you have no freedom. You are nothing but a slave to the state, which will never wither away because it owns everything. So truth will never ever support Marxism, which explains why all Marxist are liars. Never meant one that was not.
As evidence, I submit this report of an exchange (comments 5 & 6) I had yesterday with Gohmer's staff re an article right here on FR.
A message left on Gohmert's District Director's cell phone quickly resulted in a call-back from his DC office, ensuring me that Gohmert was being notified of my request -- and thanking me for the 'heads up' on the issue. Shortly afterward, the District Director herself followed up with a call to me -- making sure the DC office had taken action on my request!
Folks, that's Representation -- working the way it should!
