I think the two Republican leaders, Boehner and McConnell are finally starting to get it.

I do too.

I saw McConnell on a Sunday show, and the host put up a quote from Ron Paul about how cuts have to be NOW not later, b/c they never show up. I wondered if the host were trying to set up McConnell by putting up a quote from the “kooky” Ron Paul.

McConnell didn’t budge. He said that the quote was absolutely right. (Which of course it is).

And...Boehner is right here. Rightly or wrongly, the POTUS is going to be seen by the public as the one to lead on this issue. He has to propose a solution that the party that controls the House will support.

And the House has said, no tax increases.

So that’s political reality. (Problem is, Obama knows that if he “caves” the the House GOP he will lose re-election. But I think I am starting to see what Rush and others have been saying....Obama is going to lose no matter what, and this week’s events are merely clarifying that).

They would be fools not to understand that they have the President up against the wall. The jobs situation is crap, the stimulus failed and worked so badly that it would have performed better and been less expensive if we’d just handed out $100,000 checks in the street. The President and the Democrats are in a box. Upwards of 60% of the public don’t want the debt limit increased and most don’t want taxes raised on job creators. The generic ballot numbers are falling for the Democrats because they have lost this debate and they are proving that they care more about spending spending spending than they do about the solvency of the US govt. They are unecessarily placing those all important entitlements at risk when they can easily make enough cuts to get us through the end of the year relatively painlessly.

They’ve had it for awhile now but not many have seen.

I doubt they understand the principle involved, but as long as they take the right actions, OK.
