Rupert Murdoch's News Corp could face probes by U.S. authorities for possibly violating bribery laws, compounding the media mogul's problems after a phone-hacking scandal in Britain.
The Obama administration has significantly stepped up enforcement of anti-bribery laws in the last two years, winning big settlements from the likes of Daimler AG and BAE Systems Plc by focusing on bribes they paid to foreign officials to win lucrative contracts.
Bribes for business have represented the bulk of these anti-bribery cases brought by the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission. It is unclear whether U.S. authorities would use scarce resources to probe News Corp over bribes allegedly paid to British police and other officials for information that became news scoops.
Employees of Murdoch's now-shuttered News of the World tabloid have been accused of hacking into personal voicemail and paying bribes. British authorities are investigating.
Legal experts in the United States said News Corp could face scrutiny on this side of the Atlantic Ocean as U.S. officials probe whether any of the allegations, if proven true, violate the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
That law makes it a crime for any company with U.S. ties to bribe foreign officials to obtain or retain business.
One source familiar with the matter said News Corp had not received any query from U.S. authorities.

If nothing else it will bring out the mainstream media elites to shout "See they're crooks, not 'fair and balanced'" while ignoring their all too obvious unending support of everything Obama. Pot calling Kettle black. The only thing that may hold Justice back is that Holder will be busy defending himself over Project Gunrunner charges close on the horizon.

BO, the shake down artist/community organizer, will fine Murdock a few billion dollars, as he did BP after the oil spill. A goodly portion of these ill-gotten gains will find its way into his re-election campaign war chest, no doubt.

It is the policy of "Help your friends and punish your enemies." which is practiced by the Left. Clinton did the same. He sicced the IRS on what he considered his enemies and helped his friends, like Schwartz of Loral who gave him $100,000. He then allowed Loral to give China the technology for launching missiles and deploying satellites. China would launch satellites much cheaper than the U.S. government but their first three attempts failed, destroying the expensive satellites. Swartz gave money to Clinton and the problem was solved.
Clinton also created the Grand (?) Monument which covered all the territory where our vast deposits of clean burning coal are. This effectively took them off the market and Clinton's friends, the Riaddys of Indonesia benefited big time.
When running for President Clinton complained that someone in GHW Bush's State Department was checking his passport records and violating his privacy. He didn't want anyone to know where he went when he was kicked out of Oxford and disappeared into Eastern Europe and Russia for several months. After being elected president Hillary immediately illegally took over 1,000 FBI files on key Republicans. They probably still have them. More than 1,000 files covers a lot of people.
Those are KGB tactics.
