The faked quotes, especially those falsely attributed to Michele Bachmann and Palin, made their way around the Internet this week, adding to the media-driven campaign of hatred against leading Republican women. Question: If there were also fake quotes from Mitt Romney, Herman Caine, and Newt Gingrich, then why say that it's only a "media-driven campaign of hatred" against the women?

Not Libel, but satire and the article clearly indicates that the quotes are satire.
They exist simply for google hits. Some left winger will make reference to these fake quotes. It’s how the system works.
No, I doubt that it’s winnable as libel. Sarah is/was a politician, and a public figure, and they are fair game.
Sure, she hasn’t declared yet, but I doubt whether a court would think that mattered. She is still clearly involved in presidential politics at the present time, as a possible candidate and as someone who is involved in political disputes leading up to various elections.

The Anthony verdict has no place in our politics but that hasn’t stopped Bill Maher from inserting it.
