Daley: D.C. 'dysfunction' hurts jobs By: Mike Allen July 10, 2011 10:23 AM EDT

White House Chief of Staff William Daley told ABC’s Christiane Amanpour on “This Week” that questions about whether political leaders “have the guts to stand up and do the tough things” is “one of the wet blankets on this economy.”

Daley, speaking after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) pulled the plug on a $4 trillion bargain that would have reformed entitlements in conjunction with raising the debt ceiling, said President Barack Obama will continue to push for the biggest deal possible.

“This president is committed to bringing economic soundness to this country, and that takes a big deal,” the chief of staff said. “A lot of pain, politically. Democrats, obviously, are very upset that the president has talked about pain on their side of the aisle, basically. And Republicans are saying: No way will we give tax relief to the middle-income Americans. They’re concentrating on trying to bring continued tax relief to the wealthiest. …

“Everyone agrees that a number around $4 trillion is the number that will … make a serious dent on our deficit. It will send a statement to the world that the U.S. has gotten ahold of their fiscal problems,” Daley continued.

“He’s going to talk to the leaders again tonight. He is not someone to walk away from a tough fight. This is a very tough, political fight – no question about it. But he didn’t come to this town to do little things. He came to do big things.”

President Barack Obama will continue to push for the biggest deal possible.

Let’s hope Boehner does too and doesn’t blink. He has the majority of the people behind him.

How many times do we have to listen to Brer Democrat begging us to not throw him into the briar patch? Any budget agreement past FY 2012 is worthless. One year's cuts for one year's debt ceiling increase. Come back in 2012 for FY 2013's debt ceiling and budget.

“This president is committed to bringing economic soundness to this country,”

Where is a well-placed lightning bolt when you need it? Daly is a lying dog. Obama and the Democrats have not submitted a budget in the past three years. Some commitment.

Elite democrats - and lowlife democrats - hate old white people. Cutting Social Security is a joy for them. The ONLY part of it they want to keep going is Social Security Disability - a scam used to bankrupt social security for those who paid into it, those who ARE paying into it, and for those who truly ARE disabled.

The way it works is ONE IN NINETEEN Americans under the age of 65 are COLLECTING FULL SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS. For things like having a bad temper, being a gang-banger drug addict, having an uncontrollable temper, having the HIV virus - even without symptoms... wanting to drink out of a baby bottle (recent) with a 'nurse' who's also collecting full benefits - AND free health care under a medicare system that's going bankrupt...

And Republicans are saying: No way will we give tax relief to the middle-income Americans.

How does this even get reported? I'd have laughed him out of the room.

This man is a liar and a fool. You cannot shrink the tax base further and make up for it on the high end. There simply aren't enough $200,000 "millionaires and billionaires" to do it and those on that low end are not the ones with means and capital to create jobs! The ones your regulations, demonization and mammoth programs have scared to death!

You're engaged in class-warfare vote buying, not reform, not recovery. Crisis helps you but so does shoving a bad deal down Republican's throats.

What did Daley pay in taxes last year? I'd bet he didn't pass up any deductions to do his part in "shared sacrifice," the hypocritical pr*ck.
