President Bush got 39% (to Gore’s 57%) in 2000 and 40% (to Kerry’s 59%) in 2004, so the CD isn’t quite as Democrat as the Obama-McCain results would have you believe. Still, going from 40% to 50% is the toughest 10% to get, even in a low-turnout run-off.

BTW, this allegation against Hahn is not new: it was the subject of a hilariously over-the-top web ad that an independent group put out a few weeks ago.

Registrations are 45.28% Dem, 27.46% Rep, 2.21% American Independent, and 0.68% Green. No way a Republican wins here unless something truly extraordinary happens.
