Obama to Push for Wider Deal With G.O.P. on Deficit Cuts (has Boehner made a deal with Obama?)
The New York Times ^ | 2011-07-07 | Carl Hulse & Mark Landler

WASHINGTON — Heading into a crucial negotiating session on a budget deal on Thursday, President Obama has raised his sights and wants to strike a far-reaching agreement on cutting the federal deficit as Speaker John A. Boehner has signaled new willingness to bargain on revenues.

(snip)

The president’s renewed efforts follow what knowledgeable officials said was an overture from Mr. Boehner, who met secretly with Mr. Obama last weekend, to consider as much as $1 trillion in unspecified new revenues as part of an overhaul of tax laws in exchange for an agreement that made substantial spending cuts, including in such social programs as Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security — programs that had been off the table.

(snip)

Congressional Democrats said they were caught off guard by the weekend White House visit of Mr. Boehner — a meeting the administration still refused to acknowledge on Wednesday — and Senate Democrats raised concerns at a private party luncheon on Wednesday.

(snip)

Officials said Mr. Boehner suggested that he was open to the possibility of $1 trillion or more in new revenue that would be generated by addressing tax issues already raised in the talks, like killing breaks for the oil and gas industry, eliminating ethanol subsidies and ending preferential treatment for corporate jets.

(snip)

One official said some revenue could be generated by allowing Bush-era tax cuts for affluent Americans to expire at the end of 2012, which would produce hundreds of billions of dollars, though those savings would be offset by the costs of retaining lower rates for those below the income threshold.

Aides to Mr. Boehner said that no tax increases were on the table and that he had not agreed to the expiration of any tax cuts.

If Boehner falls for this, Boehner is over, the Republican Party is over and the once great USA is over.

(has Boehner made a deal with Obama?)

Boehner? Of course he has. The sensible question addresses whether he has enough Republicans to eat the same economic and political doggy do.

Would someone please give Boehner his man-card back. This is embarrassing to me, and I'm not even related to the guy. It almost looks like Obama asked for his Saint Christopher back and they're not going steady anymore. Could there be a deal between these two? Boehner looks ready to have his children, why not?

Boehner could walk into a bank with an AK-47 and walk out with a lollipop, proclaiming victory....

Republicans have no concept of how to manage their advantage!!!

Personally, I think we’d be a lot better off, if Pelosi hadn’t inserviced the new Speaker of the house saying, “Now YOU’RE Obama’s bitch.” At least it would help if he acted like he didn’t believe her.

One thing I’d like to know, does Boehner get any cuddle-time after these negotiations?

Do they share a cigarette afterwards?

Is Boehner on birth control?

I know what Obama’s talking points are. What’s ours, three short sobs?

Did Obama actually tell Boehner he was a virgin before these negotiations?

Does Boehner know Obama has been with Soros, and Reverend Wright too? Does he know Bill Ayers and Bernadene Dorn are not really members of Obama prayer meeting group?

Has Boehner heard of Israel. Does he actually trust the guy that has taken the measures Obambi has since January of 2009?

Does Boehner know what ‘hosed’ means, and three steps to prevent it from happening to him, and us too?

Does Boehner know what a Republican is vs a Democrat? Does he understand the concept that we oppose what Obama wants to do to this nation? Does he understand you don’t have to play nice while defending this nation?

Vote on spending cuts first. Then, if they eliminate 90% of the deficit through specific and honest spending cuts, and only then, allow a vote on tax increases. If that second vote loses? Too bad.
