I can only hope that was tongue in cheek because it makes no sense whatsoever.
The United States is quickly facing a massive problem in that higher education is ridiculously expensive. We really think we’re going to continue to churn out doctors who are 300k in debt and rising?
More loans? Seriously?
The question is 1) why are expenses rising so quickly in colleges across the country and 2) why aren’t unneeded departments being slashed?
It’s time universities quit spending so much money on buildings and pensions and stopped wasting so much money on grants in the form of financial aid and went on a bit of a diet.
Instead they just keep passing it along to the students.
It’s ultimately very unproductive.
Not tongue in cheek.
First, college isn’t for everyone and students should make a sober evaluation as to whether or not college is even for them.
Then, they should make a sober evaluation about a good, marketable major.
Then, they should make a sober evaluation as to whether or not the degree is a good investment for them.
More loans isn’t the problem. Big loans for worthless degrees is the problem.
The answer to question #1 is because the government keeps increasing aid to education and prices have to rise to absorb all available dollars.
The answer to question #2 is because the educrats do not live in a world of reality like you and I. If you train mechanical engineers to do jobs for industry which actually exist, then it is only fair to train angry lesbians to fill courtroom position which need to be created.
At some point Universities in America became businesses and ceased being educational. It's all about the money.
