Illegal Aliens Out of the Shadows, Welcomed at Senate Hearing (invited by suckup Sen Durbin)
HUMAN EVENTS ^ | 6/30/11 | Audrey Hudson, Human Events Congressional Correspondent

Posted on 06/30/2011 6:01:56 AM PDT by Liz

It’s not unusual for politicians on Capitol Hill to recognize citizens during hearings on legislation that would have a positive or negative impact on their lives. But that tactic took a different turn this week when hundreds of illegal immigrants filled the largest hearing room in the Senate to openly participate in the proceedings. And they did so without threat of arrest from the nation’s chief immigration law enforcement official who was sitting in the front row: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

Many of the illegal immigrants were recognized by name by Sen. Dick Durbin (D. –Ill.) who led the panel, and commended by Obama administration officials who want to give them legal status under sweeping legislation called the DREAM Act. The DREAM Act would give permanent legal status to illegal immigrants, up to age 35, who arrived in the United States before age 16, provided they complete two years of college or serve two years in the military.

“The young people who would be eligible for the DREAM Act call themselves dreamers,” Durbin said. “Over the years, I have met hundreds of these dreamers, and hundreds of them are here today,” Durbin continued. Durbin introduced about a half dozen of the illegal immigrants by name and asked them to stand, as he told their story of how they were brought into the country illegally by their parents. Although they had attended U.S. schools, Durbin said they could either not get jobs or faced problems pursing higher education because of their illegal status. “Let me ask everyone here today who is a DREAM Act student to stand and be recognized,” Durbin said. Nearly everyone in the audience stood. “Thank you so much for being here,” Durbin said.

Just 24 hours before the hearing was scheduled to convene in the rather small hearing room of the Judiciary Committee in the Dirksen Senate Office Building which seats about 100 people, Republican staffers were notified that Democrats had moved the proceeding to room 216 of the Hart Building. Better known as the “media room,” that hearing hall can seat 300 to 400 and is typically reserved for large gatherings, like confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justices. Napolitano told this subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee that although the large group gathered was part of the population that is subject to deportation; there was no enforcement of the law that morning.

There is no Dream Act; there will be no Dream Act. Secure the borders and enforce the laws that are on the books than maybe something can be done. But maybe they will collect a lot of names and addresses.

Today's Democrat Party is a criminal organization. Here's the law:

INA: ACT 274 - BRINGING IN AND HARBORING CERTAIN ALIENS

Sec. 274. [8 U.S.C. 1324]

(a) Criminal Penalties.-

(1) (A) Any person who-
(i) knowing that a person is an alien, brings to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien;

(ii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law;

(iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;

(iv) encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law, shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B); or

It is time that American Citizens began treating the tax laws with the same respect that illegal aliens and democrats treat the immigrations laws.

Knowing what it takes just to get INTO the Capitol, how is it that these hundreds of ILLEGALs were admitted to the very center of our governemnt.

The Republican head of the Committee should have had the Capitol Police shut the door, and then have Federal Agents come in and check every person in there, and deport them as necessary.

Democrats CANNOT be worked with, compromised with, or trusted.

They are the enemies of freedom, of America, and of the Constitution.

Republicans better grow balls or the people will be fixing things in DC. Time for another march on DC.

Politicians who flagrantly violate immigration laws in the halls of Congress, cannot be trusted to enforce those laws on the border - let alone write and pass those laws anywhere or any time.

An epically shameful moment for America and real Americans!

The Republicans were where they've always been ~ as are the Democrats.

The question here has absolutely nothing to do with illegal entry ~ it has to do with the privilege of the folks who enforce emigration to enter into a building on Capitol Hill and arrest someone.

They have to have the permission of the Speaker of the House and the Majority Leader of the Senate to do that. I'm just guessing ICE didn't bother requesting permission.

This is the same problem the FBI had with Representative Jefferson ~ there are government buildings where they simply can't go without specific approval ~ and the buildings and grounds controlled directly by Congress are such places.

So, don't ask where Boehner or other Republicans were ~ ask why the Executive, Barack Obama, didn't have his subordinate at ICE do HIS job (which included getting permission).

You might note too that the Democrats around the country are still fighting photo ID laws yet if you want to visit the White House and you are over 15 years of age YOU MUST HAVE A PHOTO ID.

Entering into the presence of "the won" is more restricted than voting.

Also, notice that this meeting with these little twirps could have been done at the White House itself ~ it's got large meeting rooms ~ yet it wasn't. Secret Service would have busted every single one of these chilluns' and Obama, having enjoyed their services for a while, would have stood there and smiled like a stone Buddah.

Our best bet is to get the House of Representatives in line with sound immigration policy. All that's happening here is we are getting a bunch of otherwise well hidden illegal aliens to "come out". Once we're rid of Obama they will be rounded up and shipped back to their own homelands where they can come "out of the shadows".

Welcome to the Third World.

Laws? What laws? If you're illegal, you got to pick and choose the laws that apply to you.

===============================================

Why is it illegal lawbreakers have all these countries .... a succession of US presidents and the US govt..... defending their "rights?" And "real citizens" do not have anyone.....even our own govt......protecting Americans' rights?

REFERENCE News reports say Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru are conspiring to collude with The Anti-Defamation League, The American Civil Liberties Union, the Southern Poverty Law Center and several other civil and immigrant rights groups to infringe on US sovereignty to make laws as we see fit. The co-conspirators filed a federal class-action lawsuit against Georgia's law and are now asking a judge to halt the measure pending the outcome of their case (which Ga courts agreed to)...and vote-crazed Obama is in on the collusion.

Illegals are a national security threat. They are conspiring to tear down democracy---and the hellholes they escaped from are helping them. .....colluding to form voting blocs that will pressure vote-crazed legislators to start the foreign aid gravy train to homelands to which illegals pledge their loyalty.......aided and abetted by the Ovomitons.

Sen. Cornyn Confronts Napolitano Over ‘Backdoor Amnesty’
Commentary ^ | 6/29/2011 | Alana Goodman
FR Posted by mojito

During a hearing on the DREAM Act today, Sen. John Cornyn confronted Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano about whether her agency directed its attorneys to dismiss the deportation cases of illegal immigrants who had been convicted of crimes.

The exchange was prompted by a Houston Chronicle investigation yesterday, which revealed that DHS’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials encouraged attorneys to seek dismissals for dozens of illegal immigrants who had been convicted of criminal acts ranging from sexual assault, kidnapping, assault, theft, drug dealing and DUIs.

“In 2010, I wrote you a letter and asked you for details with regard to this program,” said Cornyn. “In response, the Department of Homeland Security assured me that a directive instructing ICE attorneys to seek dismissals of certain classes of criminal aliens ‘does not exist.’”

The senator asked Napolitano whether she could “explain the apparent discrepancy between the existence of this memo and what the Houston Chronicle reported on Monday?” Napolitano denied her office was involved in a cover-up, arguing that the Houston ICE field office that instructed its attorneys to seek dismissals for these illegal immigrants had “misconstrued” the orders given by the ICE headquarters in Washington, D.C. “The plain fact of the matter is that a miscommunication occurred at the regional level in one of 26 offices,” she said.

But Napolitano’s response doesn’t completely explain the inconsistency. As the Chronicle reported, after the chief counsel of the Houston office gave the instructions to his attorneys, he forwarded the email to ICE headquarters. ICE officials replied with an email praising the chief counsel’s decision and asking him to share his strategies with other offices. Napolitano has a lot more to answer for, and it sounds like at least one senator plans to pursue an investigation.

“When an agency not only misleads the public and Congress, but also attempts to block public information, merely citing an unfortunate ‘miscommunication’ is not a good enough explanation for the American people,” Cornyn said in a press statement after the hearing. “I intend to pursue whatever means necessary to get to the bottom of this and shine light on this wrongheaded policy.”

The governments in Latin America are engaging in a very dangerous practice involving themselves in the way we make and enforce our own laws.

It puts the lie to the old Leftwingtard complaint about "American Imperialism" and how we are seeking to impose our ways on them.

No, it's the other way around BUT it could be different. You drop the 82nd Airborne on Mexico City and send a mechanized Infantry Division South down the spine of Mexico and we could take them over and impose our ways on them in a couple of weeks.

With Obama out of office soon, we could probably arrange for such events without a great deal of difficulty.

That would also give us a new colonial possession to which we could exile ACLU, et al.

Note that without annexation this would simply be a colonial conquest of the old fashioned variety where the conqueror takes the natural resources, taxes the population for the cost of conquering them, and ships all THEIR refugees back home to lord it over the locals who made their lives so miserable.

I'm sure we could set up a very reliable Los Caudillos Brigade composed of little more than Salvadoran MS13members and Mexican narcotrafficantes and they'd be happy to do all the wet work for us.

Oh, yeah, they get Dick Durbin too. He and his kind have got to be dispatched to permanent ambassadorships in the Near Abroad!

Seems like not only illegals BUT SENATORS get to "pick and choose the laws that apply." From my post 5.

"iv) encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law, shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B);"

I agree 200% with your statement. The Dems / Progressives / Commies in congress are getting more brazen and this little act of illegals right there, welcomed with open arms is so much worse than just simply disgusting. It is appalling that our elected reps (GOP) just let this continue.

You HAVE to know, that this was known ahead of time by the GOP. I'm sick to death of “ma friends across the isle”. Must be they all have plans to attend the SAME 4th of July party OR the ANTI-4th of July party.

Come on, true Americans - let's roll on this. Call your senators (my new Ron Johnson R/WI gets it) and reps and tell the staff you will NOT stand for lawlessness like this.

CLOSE the borders and throw out anyone illegal. Don't care HOW long they've been here. They broke into our home and are demanding freebies. THIS is only part of why we're broke, folks. Read my tag line. Let's Roll.

Durbin should be removed from office for aiding and abetting criminals. Whoever aided these people to get into the Senate building have done the same thing as someone that hired a dishwasher knowing he had no papers.
