Information about voters who signed a petition to overturn a law granting in-state college tuition to some undocumented immigrants has been released to an immigrant advocacy group and other Maryland residents, including several state delegates. CASA de Maryland, which opposes the petition, and delegates Michael Smigiel, Neil Parrott and Pat McDonough -- all Republicans who support the petition -- received copies of a database that includes petition signatories' names and addresses and reasons for rejection, if applicable, according to Donna Duncan, election management director for the Maryland State Board of Elections, which released the information.

KEYWORDS: casa; immigration; maryland
Some background: Despite overwhelming opposition, Maryland State Legislators recently passed a law giving in-state college tuition rates to illegal aliens.

Although the process in Maryland is very difficult, citizens have mounted a petition drive to have a recall of this law placed on our next ballot. At the moment, it looks as if this drive is going to succeed.

CASA de Maryland is a leftist organization dedicated to the comfort of those who are here in our state illegally. In the liberal portions of the state, they are very popular. Now, apparently, their political apparatchiks are gathering the names and addresses of those of us who signed the petition.

And they mock us when we compare them to Nazis?

Gather up the names and addresses of the Legislators voting for it and the names of their children and spouses and addresses and schools etc... and publish that data... tit for tat baby.

Not really happy that Casa de Maryland has my name and address, but so be it. Not much they can do with it , but whoever released it needs to be fired.

Since intimidation is a union thug tactic of long standing, I worry for anyone with a Hispanic surname who signed the petition.

This article is misleading - so what’s new! The delegates who have the database, according to this article, may have it now, but they did not have it until it became public knowledge that the entire list of names had been given to CASA operatives.

The CASA representatives were on the way out the door with the ORIGINALS of the petitions when they were stopped by one of the Republican delegates. They were taking them to “check the signatures”.

Maryland has morphed into the most leftwing of all 50 states. Our governor has aspirations of higher office when his term ends. What is happening here makes Massachusetts a distant second in the “liberal” category.

Maryland is the beta test for many state control wishes: high taxes, punishing EPA controls, capandtrade, so-called samesex marriage... You name it, MOM and the gang in Annapolis are willing to push it if Schumer, Reid, Levin, Pelosi, et al want to push it.

Sorry I missed out on signing the petition. I could have greated them with my little friend.
