Postage is a "user fee". Obama influenced the Postal Rate Commission to turn down a USPS proposal to change postage rates.

So whatever the Democrats are saying about user fees I'd discount it as just a feint for a propaganda ploy ~ they'll come out and tell us that the Republicans want to raise "fees" on some sort of innocuous activity or product involving ordinary folks, or the poor "Yet they refuse to raise taxes on the rich who are eating out your guts".

Just ignore the Democrats on this. Don't respond. No fees. No taxes. Just cuts! And THEY get to pick the cuts. (Bwahahahahaha)

As discussed in the FReeper Sunday
Morning Talk Show Thread 19 June 2011,
the RINOs leaked that they are calling
NEW TAXES by the euphemism, “FEES”.

They learned that from Milt Romney, their leader.

America is in peril from the RINOs.

How about getting rid of the federal gas tax...That alone would raise GDP by 1 point...

More info please. like user fees on what?

Many user fees already exist or did exist.

There was the National Park Access fee several years ago. Did not mind that, it kept the riff-raff out. Went an bought a yer long, any park access card right away and renewed it until they did away with the program.

The motor fuel tax is a user fee of sorts. The more you use the more you pay. Of course every time they raise CAF their revenue goes down. Duh.

If the fee is applied to the actual user, i.e.: you or me, like the park fee, than it can make sense. If it is applied to a business, than it will be passed along to us in the price. Everyone on FR should know by now that businesses do not pay taxes, they pass them on to the consumer.

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck is it really a duck or is it a user fee?

Doesn’t matter HOW they take money out of the economy, the damage to the economy is the same. Period.

great chart! thanks!

...as for compromise, i’m a single Dad.
money is tight.
but if i had to choose between congress making a
10% overall budget cut, without raising taxes,
or a
20% overall budget cut, and raising my taxes 10%,

i will take the later!!! for the sake of my children!!!

The trouble with option B is that they end up raising the taxes and the spending both, while the cuts never materialize.

When the government takes in 2500+ billions of dollars, talking about giving them more is plain stupid no matter what you call their method of extortion. No new income for the Federal Government, period. In addition, each year for the next ten years the Federal Government must reduce expenditures by 10% in constant 1975 dollars.

JMHO
