Not only is this sad, but why do I get the feeling that the sleezebag democratic party is going to try to prop her up to run for that open Senate seat in 2012.

There have been rumblings that her husband, recently retired astronaut Mark Kelly, is being groomed to run for the U.S. Senate.

Most Senators are brain dead... she’ll fit right in.

Maybe because the local LSM Dem run "news"paper writes a daily "Gabby Giffords" story pushing her marvelous recovery. There was never a shuttle launch in the history of the space shuttle program that garnered as much coverage as her husband's just completed flight received in the AZ Rag.

We pray for her recovery, but really - run for a Senate seat when she cannot even communicate in a normal fashion? For a RAT that has no bearing on whether she should be Senator or not - they will put her finger on the vote button - she know how to vote RAT.

she has zero chance of winning the senate seat. AZ took a hard right turn last November, there are no dems holding elected statewide office now. obama declared war on us and we noted what party he is from and acted accordingly. there are still some dem enclaves around the colleges, but that’s it. even that old communist raul grijalva almost lost his seat to an unknown 28year old woman.

I live in AZ 8, Gabby Giffords district. This district was held by ‘moderate’ Republican Jim Kolbe for many years until he resigned in 2006. Giffords switched the seat that year due to an intraparty fight amongst Republicans, was reelected in 2008 against a weak challenger who ran away from the Republican label, and, despite her incumbency, barely defeated a flawed Republican challenger in 2010.

Ms Giffords had a splendid personality and public persona. Beneath, and uncovered by the leftist Tucson newspaper, she is a pro abortion, pro Obamacare, pro stimulus, pro union handout liberal. Before her wounding, she was vulnerable. Now she has been sainted and could probably be re-elected to her congressional seat without having to prove her mental and communication competence.

A senatorial campaign is very unlikely because of greater scrutiny, and just remember, Arizona, outside Tucson, is a deep red state.

My prediction - nothing will happen until the end of this year when preciously restrained Republicans declare their candidacies for her seat. Then, who knows?
