The Los Angeles times did a lengthy takeout on Michele Bachmann's income from government and farm subsidies, a piece that prompted questions from Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace during the congresswoman's announcement-eve appearance today.
Bachmann insisted that the family farm in question never profited her direct family.
"Number two, regarding the farm, the farm is my father-in-law's farm. It's not my husband and my farm. It's my father-in-law's farm. And my husband and I have never gotten a penny of money from the farm," Bachmann said.
But her financial disclosures in 2009 and 2010 show her getting between $15,000 and $50,000 from the Bachmann Family Farm LP.
The farm got north of $250,000 in government subsidies, according to reports.
To Bachmann's fans, such questions likely won't matter. But such moments easily become fare for a rival's ads.

I remember so clearly the aggressive manner in which the media investigated every penny that had ever flowed to Barack Obama, his Senatorial campaign, his Presidential campaign, how he paid for his college education, his time at Harvard University “studying the law,” etc.

Yes the MSM did more investigating of Joe the plumber Wurzelbacher in 24 hours than they did of Baraq in 24 months.

I grew up on a family farm, and my dad chose to take farm subsidies. That doesn’t mean that either he or I would actually object to ending the subsidy program. Many conservative farmers take the subsidies, because if they didn’t take them, the farmers around them who took the subsidies would gain a competitive advantage over them. But I’m certainly in favor of abolishing farm subsidies for everybody and having a free market farming system.
Whether the MSM investigated Obama or not is not the question here. The question is why did she lie about not receiving any money from the farm?

The only real investigating of Baraq I saw was the WSJ did a lot on the Rezko real estate deals.
But when you have Blowprah for a cheerleader, who cares about a few sleazy financial deals, right?
Liberals just love this convoluted tax system we have, but they scream like howler monkeys if one of their political enemies (i.e. everyone who disagrees with them) use the deductions they write in for their friends. Bachman could then follow up with, "You want to talk about reforming the tax code and scrapping this mess for a flat tax or repealing the 16th amendment and going to a fair tax, lets talk about this."

Yes and all the copies of his transcript he mailed out to law firms looking for an affirmative action position. I got so damn tired of reading them. However, now is the full court press to elect Willard, which several people here want to see happen.

Maybe she didn’t know. Tax returns and filings can be many pages, and to some, 50K is not huge. If she did know, though, why would she think we all would not find out?
