BMA: Let patients die 'to save cash'
Scotsman ^ | 6/24/11 | Lyndsay Buckland

Posted on 06/26/2011 8:49:24 AM PDT by Nachum

The leader of Scotland's doctors has questioned whether society can afford to pay thousands of pounds to keep terminally-ill people alive for weeks or months when health service budgets are under unprecedented strain. Dr Brian Keighley, chairman of the British Medical Association Scotland, said in some cases tens of thousands of pounds were spent on drugs to extend cancer patients' lives for relatively short periods.[Snip]But he stressed any decision had to be made at a society level, rather than being left to doctors. Patient groups are concerned that many cancer treatments are being rationed by the NHS

Meet the Notorious Dr. Joseph Mengele

Dr Josef Mengele, known as the Angel of Death, was a Nazi German SS officer and a physician in Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp. He gained notoriety chiefly for being one of the SS physicians who supervised the selection of arriving transports of prisoners, determining who was to be killed and who was to become a forced laborer.

“any decision had to be made at a society level, rather than being left to doctors”

For Obamacare, any decidion will be made at the GOVERNMENT level, rather than being left to the doctors.

We better make sure to get a Republican president and Congress to completely repeal Obamacare, before it becomes fully implemented,

When the U.N. bans personal ownership of firearms, all U.S. gun owners will become instant international criminals. U.S. OUT OF U.N.; U.N. OUT OF U.S.!

What ever happened to dying with dignity?

I can see the public helping with broken bones, pills for flu, taking out an appendix and so forth. I don’t see nations anywhere being able to afford hundreds of thousands of dollars in care a year to keep someone alive for three years unless they themselves invested in a very expensive private policy to get incredible over-the-top care.

Doctors should not directly hurt someone, but if they don’t have ways to pay for $100,000 treatments, they should not be expected to treat with $100,000 treatments IMO.
We can’t all afford to drink out 24k gold cups either and we can’t expect others to give them to us either.

Dying with dignity?

Hari Kari? A gun, one bullet? Hemlock? Wheeling grandma to the cliff and letting her step off? Pop some LSD and stick your finger in the electric socket?

How about high diving with no parachute?

The problem with government owning healthcare is that it makes bureaucrats responsible for life-and-death decisions. Individuals and families should be deciding whether to spend life savings to live a few extra weeks with tubes in every orifice. (No sarcasm.)

We all will die, even YOU.

You can die with dignity.
People used to die with more self respect as the time came near.
Unless there are endless funds somewhere, you cannot expect to see tons of money spent on dying useless they can pay out of pocket, unless their kids want to borrow on all their assets or maybe if the patient has bought some very good back-up health care policies.
Outside of the few exceptions above, there is no way to give everyone a million dollars in public funds to die over a couple of years. An impossible situation that our own country will see is reality as we see far more people becoming elderly soon.
Watch the selfish new elderly population try and vote themselves all kinds of services by the way.

Not enough other people’s money to go around here or elsewhere.
