I don't believe that there should be any form of government sanctioned marriage. Such matters should be left strictly in the realm of religion or whatever other non-government institution that consenting adults choose to use to solemnize their unions. Government should have no interest whatsoever in an adult’s private living arrangements or relationship status.”

As long as the government is giving special support to unmarried mothers and bastard children, it should be promoting marriage. When the government provides financial support for non-marriage, it turns it into a public issue.
