Kerry, McCain push role in Libya (McCain wants to give Obama even more power)

WASHINGTON — Senators John F. Kerry and John McCain, seeking to defuse a contentious debate over funding for US military operations in Libya, proposed a resolution yesterday offering congressional support for President Obama’s policy in the North African country.

The senators, both high-profile members of the chamber and former nominees for the presidency, sought to project a united front in support of the NATO-led action to protect Libyan civilians from Moammar Khadafy’s forces and curtail the dictator’s ability to wage war.

Some legal scholars say the resolution, despite assurances from McCain and Kerry, does not limit the current mission.

“It looks like it was drafted in the State Department. It gives the president everything he would possibly want and imposes no meaningful restrictions," said Michael J. Glennon, a scholar at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy who helped lawmakers draft the 1973 War Powers Resolution.

Obama should appoint Kerry and McCain Generalissimos in the new Afrika Korps and tell them: “Don’t come back until the war is won!”

Aren't you glad McCain did not win the last election?

He doesn't understand the need for limits and goals. He would have been a steal progressive. But we got something better - A Hyper Progressive that can't stop himself.

I guess if you live long enough things eventually do come around. JFK finally found a war he could love. Why do I have this sinking feeling?

I look for Ding and Dong to be equally as supportive of President Palin’s “efforts” in Cuba.

If McCain had won and went to war without Congressional approval, the media would have had him drawn and quartered by now. We would be better off with a dictator McStupid than a dictator Bam Bam.
