You know, if there’s ever been any claim that Gingrich actually used this line of credit, I’ve yet to see it. My bank gave me a six figure line of credit years ago and I’ve never used a penny of it. It may be a fairly standard business practice of Tiffany’s to give someone of Newt’s wealth and status a huge line of credit. That doesn’t mean that he necessarily ever used much, if any, of it. Not that it would be any of my business anyway. But the media is determined to give every GOP candidate (and potential, but undeclared, candidates) a public colonoscopy. For that reason alone, I’m glad to read in your post that Newt has a zero balance on that line of credit.

I am no fan of Newt's but I fail to see why this even matters.

My wife buys a lot of jewelry from Tiffany and we have an account with them (it's nowhere near a million bucks, but it's big enough), opening it was no different than opening an account at a department store. EVERY jewelry store will let someone with an account buy whatever they want with zero interest if paid within a certain amount of time. Other than the media's fixation with this it's a non-story.
