The Countdown that debuted on Current TV last night was in many respects exactly as fans of Keith Olbermanns MSNBC show rememberfrom the familiar theme music, segments, contributors and style. Reviewers have noted that Olbermanns lost none of his outrage in the move into the more remote reaches of the cable landscape. As has been noted, Olbermann assembled a team from on-camera guests to behind-the-scenes bookers who were with him on MSNBC. So whats different about the new show? Everythingat least in terms of television. Countdown put Olbermann at the desk of a shiny new set, but it was in a sense a sparkling modern surgical suite built in a warehouse without a modern hospital surrounding it. And it showed.

Whereas the MSNBC version of Countdown was filled with the most modern graphics, live remotes from around the world, and plenty of entertaining effects, the new Countdown was by necessity more streamlined. Or, as some suggested with snark on Twitter during the debut, the show had a dated, nearly cable access feel to it at times. Sound elements were sometimes inaudible, and at other points, the audio levels between Olbermann and his remote guests were annoyingly uneven.

Keith Olbermann’s return: Same shrill, socialist jerk, smaller audience.
>>>Keith Olbermanns return: Same shrill, socialist jerk, smaller audience.
Same dog crapping on a different lawn.
I heard they rented the old Captain Kangaroo set lol.
Same crap, different channel
Same vitriol, different venue
Same garbage, different gutter
BTW, ESPN occasionally plays old clips of Olbie's sportscaster days when doing those 30 min bios. His big mustache was a real hoot.
Sideshow Keith, on a Public Access channel....
“Oh the rage! oh, the irony! I cast my pearls of sneering bumptiousness on a diminished audience of the same old slack jawed followers, and even *they* now deride me! Is there no justice in the world for Sideshow Keith? Is there no justice for *me*???”
Same hate...same trench coat.
I remember one time on his old show Olbermann got up from his desk and it was the first time in years of watching this guy on TV that I ever saw him from the waist down. He has this blubbery, pear-shaped Klinefelter syndrome-type body with short legs and a long torso. Plus he was standing next to Maddow who looks like a 12 year-old. Pretty funny.
Al Gore’s slow moving train wreck of a cable TV channel, has as its top programs, really, not kidding:
infoMania - A satirical news show like The Daily Show.
Kill it, Cook it, Eat it - A hunting, butchering, and cooking show.
Bar Karma - A viewer developed show.
4th and Forever - A reality show about a CA high school football team.
Long Way Round - Traveling by motorcycle from London to New York.
Cooking in the Danger Zone - “Features Stefan Gates traveling the world to check out the crazy foods that some people eat.”
The Beat - A reality show featuring the Vancouver police.
SWAT: Miami Dade - A reality show featuring the Miami-Dade police.
Deadliest Journeys - A reality show featuring the worlds most dangerous roads.
Hooked on Danger - A reality show featuring Tuna Fisherman in Australia.
This American Life - A television version of the Public Radio program.
It is the most worthless cable TV channel since Videodrome’s CIVIC-TV (Channel 83, Cable 12).
I’ll bet there are peep shows at the Madison County Fair in Winterset, Iowa with higher ratings.
What’s a “Keith Olbermann” and has it had its shots?
