MINNEAPOLIS About 15 bloggers got a rare glimpse at an angry Herman Cain, when the Republican presidential candidates temper flared briefly during an informal press conference Saturday.
The normally genial Atlanta businessman became angry when Evan McMorris-Santoro, a writer for the liberal blog Talking Points Memo, asked whether Cain would apply special precautions in hiring Muslims.
If youre trying to make me lose my cool, youre almost succeeding, Cain said, after McMorris-Santoro raised the question one Cain had addressed at some length to begin the press conference and when the TMP writer attempted to reiterate the question, Cain roared back: I never said I would use any special precautions!
Cain then apologized for having raised his voice. The exchange between Cain and McMorris-Santoro comes at the 13:15 mark of this video provided by conservative blogger Nice Deb:
For three months, liberals have criticized Cain for remarks he made at a March event in Iowa in response to a question from Scott Keyes of the Think Progress blog:
KEYES: You came under a bit of controversy this week for some of the comments made about Muslims in general. Would you be comfortable appointing a Muslim, either in your cabinet or as a federal judge? CAIN: No, I will not. And heres why. There is this creeping attempt, there is this attempt to gradually ease Sharia law and the Muslim faith into our government. It does not belong in our government. This is what happened in Europe. And little by little, to try and be politically correct, they made this little change, they made this little change. And now theyve got a social problem that they dont know what to do with hardly. The question that was asked that raised some questions and, as my grandfather said, I does not care, I feel the way I feel. I was asked, what is the role of Islam in America? I thought it was an odd question. I said the role of Islam in America is for those that believe in Islam to practice it and leave us alone. Just like Christianity. We have a First Amendment. And I get upset when the Muslims in this country, some of them, try to force their Sharia law onto the rest of us.
The question about Muslims was one of three points that Cain sought to clarify in his remarks at the beginning of his press conference. He also explained why he had been unwilling to sign a pledge offered by a pro-life group, saying that he is strongly pro-life, but had issues with the wording of the pledge; and he repeated his strong support for gun rights, which had been questioned by some Second Amendment activists. Taking questions from bloggers, Cain also discussed his disagreements with another 2012 GOP candidate, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, about the Federal Reserve system.
The press conference with the candidate in shirtsleeves, sitting on a chair turned backward followed Cains well-received speech at the fourth annual Right Online conference, hosted by Americans for Prosperity.
America is suffering a severe deficiency of leaderships, Cain said during the speech, which was interrupted several times by standing ovations.
Small businesses . . . are hanging on for dear life, Cain told the RightOnline crowd, assuring those struggling with the current recession: Hold on . . . help is on the way.

IsLame is SLAVERY/SUBMISSION. It has been ILLEGAL in the civilized world for 150+ years now!
Is SLAVERY protected by the 1st ammendment? Didn't think so!
He has dignity as well as business experience.
He's definitely a contender.
Herman Cain will not win the nomination.
Book it.

I got 2 fingers left buddy... This month for the first time all of my clients ALL of them are past due. NONE have paid on time.
Since I bill a months service ahead next month is going to be a very boring month if none of them pay by the end of June. I’m like the cable company. You don’t pay the month in advance? I pull the plug at the end of the paid for month.

Win or lose the nomination for ‘12 GOP POTUS, Herman Cain is a worthwhile candidate to have in the Presidential race, and he isn’t the only candidate that this is true about. We, still, don’t have the complete, official list of all of the candidates that are running for ‘12 GOP POTUS, and anything can happen. If Sarah Palin, John Bolton, Jim DeMint, and/or Rick Perry, among, even, other candidate possibilities, end up running for ‘12 GOP POTUS, then things will get much more interesting. The race for ‘12 GOP POTUS is, still, early.
If true, it’s because a bunch of scared little pantywaist p*ssies make up the GOP electorate.

I was an avid supported for a short time before he showed his true colors. Now, no thanks.

Dang it!!! Fix it, Jim!!!!!!!
What “true colors” are that?
Cain stated that he is against a federal marriage amendment. Even for libertarians, the horse is just about out of the barn - it's time to shut the door.
Cain said that if/when DADT is repealed, he won't seek a reversal of the sodomization of the military. He is ambiguous about his support for traditional marriage and other 'marriage-like' contrivances.
“Herman Cain stated that he is in favor of 2nd amendment restrictions at the state and local level.”
I posted the link to that tent folding several days ago. Along with Rombot, he will not sign the anti-abortion pledge deal. I hadn’t seen anything on the others you mentioned but don’t doubt them.
He is not responding well to the increased lumens of the spotlight. He has apparently been hit with the same waffle iron that has hit other candidates. Or maybe he has caught the dreaded and fatal Newtitis.
It’s really a shame, because Herman otherwise has a lot of strong assets that could work for him. Substance is critical, though.
That is almost a good enough job of twisting and misrepresentation to land you a job at CNN. Is your resume in?
He is against state’s ability to regulate themselves, including EXPANSIONS of gun rights like conceal and carry. He would not push a repeal of DADT on the military while they are fighting FOUR WARS at once, he is not in favor of sodomizing the military.
And FTR, that phrase “sodomizing of the military” gives you away. You were simply doing a hit job on Cain.
And he is not ambiguous in his support for traditional marriage, but he is a strict constitutionalist and federalist.
Nice try.
