The government will sell oil and gas drilling leases in Alaska’s National Petroleum Reserve by the end of this year, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced today.

So, why is it necessary to wait seven months? With this bunch, they're just as likely to use a few delaying tactics like this and then never issue them if reelected.

And, further, I know Senator Vitter commented that selling leases doesn't mean much. It's issuing drilling permits that really gets something started. This blather from Obama's people is about selling leases by year-end.
