House members to sue Obama administration over Libya mission

Washington (CNN) -- A bipartisan group of House members will file a lawsuit Wednesday challenging U.S. participation in the Libya military mission.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama is set to defend U.S. military involvement in Libya to Congress, according to the White House.

The administration will provide a report to address a June 3 House resolution that raised questions about the president's goal in Libya, how he hopes to achieve that goal, why he has not sought congressional authorization for involving U.S. troops abroad and how much the conflict will ultimately cost, National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said.

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said in a letter to Obama on Tuesday that the administration could be in violation of the War Powers Resolution if it fails to get congressional authorization by Sunday, which he notes will be the 90th day since the mission began.

The lawsuit, which will be formally announced at a Washington news conference, will cite the War Powers Resolution as well as the role of Congress in protecting taxpayers' money, said Rep. Walter Jones, R-North Carolina, one of the 10 legislators filing it.

CNN is broadcasting on the Satellite Channel as "Obama is breaking the law" headline.

Unusual for CNN to criticize a Democrat...

If they were serious they would begin impeachment.

It talks about Fallout from Operation Gunrunner as well as the Ryan Medicare Plan.

The combination of a legal challenge on Libya at the time Operation Gunrunner hearlings going on may be the settings for some serious times in DC.

There has been no agreement on raising the Debt Ceiling, so the 'Rats may be in a tough and hot summer in DC... With the GOP turning up the heat...

I thought impeachment was the legal remedy for the legislative branch against the executive. Is there precedent for the House suing the executive?

If they were serious they would begin impeachment.

They can't. That would be considered a racist thing to do.

The first step is invoking the War Powers Act. This is apparently how it is done.

The FoxNews article on this is much more specific on the fallout from this...

With the Operation Gunrunner hearings going on, and no agreement on raising the Debt Ceiling, there is hope the GOP might be serious about some issues...

That is my question. Why does one branch sue the other? They have financial oversight so just drop funding.

It is a bipartisan suit. I imagine if the House gets most Republicans and a fair number of Democrats, this will cause more attention than Operation Gunrunner is receiving.

But it is just my opinion.

What is interesting about this CNN article is that it is actually CRITICAL of a Democratic President

The Clinton News Network or the Communist News Network actually raising the flag that Obama might be in trouble is interesting... Maybe they will try to spin this as the GOP's fault somehow...

If they sue, it may be the basis for the SCOTUS to get involved, and shut down the Libyan Operation...

And I think SCOTUS Justice Kennedy would vote to shut down...

There was real concern at the New World Order meeting in Switzerland (June 9-12) about problems with support of the Libyan War.

The New World Order folks want to depose the Libyan Dictator.

And the New World Order specifically was concerned about the Congress in this regards.

Another concern at the New World Order meeting was Internet Freedom. These folks want to start limiting Internet Freedom. The Internet has been good for Banking, but not for Politics -- they want to have a firmer control over Politics as they have over the Banking and other Industries...

Then they may as well turn off the lights, close the doors, and go home. He is administrating as if he is a dictator, rules, laws and the Constitution mean nothing to him.

There is the balance of power. Don’t kick it over to the Judiciary. Defund the Bastard. But, that would take some intestinal fortitude, aka/ kryptonite to a professional politician.

Matt Drudge has picked this up as a top headline on his DrudgeReport.com.

I am not sure how much weight Matt Drudge's reporting has.

I am waiting for Michelle Malkin to write on this issue...

But this issue is receiving Media Attention...

And it is going on during the week with:

Weiner-Gate raging

Operation GunRunner Hearings going

Debt Ceiling Talks still going on...

I would say there is a leadership vacuum in Washington, and it is more and more seeming that Obama is a one term president... [my opinion]

Maybe Obama will fix all of this by going out and playing golf...
