Dirty old towns: Top Ten Aneruca's Filthiest cities
dailymail.co ^ | June 14, 2011 | Unattributed

Excerpt only site: Cities like New York, Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles may be some of the most popular and exciting cities in the U.S., but they also happen to be the dirtiest. A list of the most filthiest cities in America has been compiled by Travel and Leisure magazine.

Most of the places that made the top ten were some of the most popular in all of the country, perhaps something to do with the number of tourists who frequent there or the street parties and events that attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

Here's one from the Reader's Digest which ranks Portland, OR as the cleanest:

50 Cleanest (Dirtiest) Cities in America (2005).

It still is biased toward the tree-hugger's sense of what constitutes "clean". The current mayor of Portland (since 2009) is a homosexual DemonRAT so I have my doubts as to whether this city will remain clean (by my metrics at least) under his "leadership". Any area with a pro-homosexual orientation is a priori filthy in my book (like San Francisco).

As dirty as it is, I'm not sure Detroit qualifies as a "city" anymore.

It's an ex-city.

Do you have a list of America’s Top 10 Cleanest Cities?

As a point of conversation - here's Hiroshima. The Japanese seem to be doing quite nicely.

New York is not a RINO run city.

Bloomberg is not a Republican, having officially left the party over four years ago. He is an independent.

The New York city council is comprised of 46 Democrats and 5 Republicans.

Lets see the population demographics [of the ten filthy cities].
                    Black White Hispanic
New Orleans 60.2 33.0 5.3
Philadelphia 43.4 41.0 12.3
Los Angeles 9.6 28.7 48.5
Memphis 62.6 29.5 5.0
New York 23.0 33.0 29.0
Baltimore 63.2 30.9 3.0
Las Vegas 11.1 47.9 31.5
Miami 19.2 11.9 70.0
Atlanta 54.0 36.3 5.3
Houston 23.7 25.6 43.8
The percentages were culled from Wikipedia's demographics for each city. The caveat is that's not always a reliable source (but for raw numbers, it might be reasonably accurate). Additionally, where available, the "non-Hispanic white" value was used for the "White" column to avoid dual counting of Hispanics.

There is a place dirtier than Boston?

Hard to believe.

George Carlin was correct when he referred to Philadelphia as “Filthy-delphia”.

Since, I’ve lived in the Houston area for years...the city isn’t a dirty city...far from it...

I agree with you for the most part.

While there are certainly some very dirty and trashy neighborhoods, my overall perception is that Houston is nearly theme-park clean, particularly in the business districts. And the suburban areas are very nice, almost to the point of pristine in some cases. So much of Houston is still new and hasn't fallen into the rundown, depressing state of the rust belt cities.

I guess they didn’t go to El Paso or Detroit. Just about any city with a left-wing mayor will be a toilet.

That is Bourbon Street, which is about three blocks of the entire town.

The French Quarter is old, and urban...but the whole thing is not a cesspool.

Thanks for that info...I did not know that! Once more Freerepublic proves we have the smart and informed people not the ignorant reactionaries like those at DU.

As always, a succinct and spot-on analysis, Deb. It would be interesting to compile a list of nice, clean, safe cities that have Conservative mayors and city councils. That would really serve to bring the point home.

What might make compiling such a list a challenge is that most large cities are in a vice-grip (death-grip) of liberals, homosexuals, thugs and union goons. Off the top of my head, I honestly can't think of a city among the top 50 largest (by population) where that type of corrupt influence isn't at work.

By and large, the true American patriots live in the suburbs, exurbs and rural areas, having just given up on urban areas. Even here in mostly Christian Conservative Texas, the bigger cities are controlled by idiot, lazy liberals and looters but are surrounded by honest, hard-working smart producers in the outlying areas.

Are there some noteworthy exceptions?

(Maybe when we take America back in 2012, we can also reclaim the cities and transform them from the third-world cesspools they've become by decades of failed liberalism.)

Nope, you nailed it. There are more poor, addicted, illegal and uneducated voters in the bigger cities which makes it easier to get a Leftist elected. Even though I love Chicago and its filth is more internal, it’s still one dirty town.
