I wonder how many Chinese, etc. are getting their visas this way?
Are American retirees still moving to Mexico?
That’s because Austin is so “enlightened”.
And that's a good thing. It's been way too long that the only immigrants we seek are the wretched of the earth. There's a place for them here, of course, but why not go after the well-to-do and their capital, too?
The frontier is closed. We do not need them. If they are so smart and rich and awesome how 'bout they use their resources and money to fix their country rather than just fleeing the problem?
I reiterate: We do not need them. They need to GTFO just like the rest.
Actually, in one of the greatest immigration blunders ever, the US told Chinese businessmen fleeing Hong Kong when the ChiComs were taking over that they had to get in line and wait while the Canadians offered to fast-track anyone with money to invest. So Toronto, Vancouver, etc., pulled out of a recession while California sank even deeper.
So, because they have money I am supposed to approve of this latest wave of foreigners?

Disagree. If they come here and build businesses, employ people and pay taxes (i.e. they come legally) I am all for it. Big difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration.
They are preparing a safe landing location.
This happened with the Honkies (Hong Kong “citizens”) in Vancouver before it went back the the PRC. Condo building went crazy for 2 years as the Honkies were trying to establish domicile in Canada in order to get that CA passport. That way they could just pull out the CA passport, and jump jet to Vancouver if the PRC got too heavy handed.
This strikes me as a repeat.
And by and large, their children speak English.
Looks like Austin will becomming the next Miami. Drug money flooded the Miami area along with the dealers, etc. Glad my family is moving out.
Is that code for wealthy drug dealers moving into Austin?
And meddle for more of their in the usual ethnic hustle, thanks dude.
Plus even the most ardent liberal aka “rich WHITE liberal” will eventually move out. One thing I;ve learned about white libs is that they move out of an area if there are more non-whites in the vicinity.
I have absolutely nothing against allowing wealthy, productive foreigners to come here to make investments, pay taxes and create jobs. Move these people to the front of the line!
I hope they're conservative, free-market capitalists who want to make money and keep some of it.
YEP...we lived in one of those Chinese Condo’s in Vancouver for a year...and watched the building boom from the 8th floor....it’s like the Weinercrats have a death wish...
Wealthy Mexicans are the most arrogant people on the planet. They are raised behind gates in palaces, and the only people they ever come in contact with are servants and other wealthy Mexicans. If you aren’t another wealthy Mexican, guess what? To them you are a servant, and they treat you as such. I know this first hand.
....."Eurán, the businessman from Monterrey, says Mexico's loss is Austin's gain. "If you want to look at the positive, if everything was OK in Mexico right now, there wouldn't be as much investment coming into the U.S.," he said. "You're getting a lot of highly educated people."
Austin is a beautiful place, but it’s packed with leftist kooks. It’s like an island of crazy, right in the middle of Texas.
Well, I've been told that Indians (due to the caste system) can be pretty arrogant too. And I've heard that Americans aren't called Americans abroad but "Ugly" Americans. And so on..
From your description, it sounds like the same thing could be said about the Kennedy clan or Chuckie Schumer-types, etc who are pretty damn arrogant people too (it's the "entitlement" thing that LIBERALS wear).
Centers of government trend that way.
