9 Stocks George Soros Just Can't Get Enough Of [ Haliburton & Petrobras ]

While George Soros is not likely in the day-to-day operations of Soros Fund Management anymore, his two sons seem to have a knack for investing as well. Here's a look at nine stocks the hedge fund has purchased over the past four months.

Google

Amazon (AMZN):

Verizon (VZ): Soros added shares as the average price of $37 during the recent reporting period.

Halliburton (HAL): Soros increased his holdings in Halliburton during the most recent reporting period at the average price of around $44 per share.

Citi (C): Soros added to his large position in Citigroup during the most recent reporting period.

Gilead Sciences (GILD): Soros added shares at the average price of $39.2 during the recent reporting period. Gilead made $7.94 billion in net sales and $2.9 billion in profits in 2010.

GILD shares are fairly valued around $41 apiece.

Exar Corporation (EXAR): Soros has steadily been accumulating shares of Exar since 2009.

Baidu Inc. (BIDU) Soros added shares at the average price of $117.59 during the reporting period.

Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR): Soros added to his relatively small position during the reporting period. This massive Brazilian producer has been boosted recently by the major discovery of reserves off the Brazilian coast. This type of extraction is more costly than traditional extraction, so, as prices for oil rise, the justification and margin on this type of extraction grows. That means that investors are aware that the benefits of the reserves will be elongated over a period of time so momentary shakes to the oil market can have less of an effect on the stock.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.

Also annoying is Soros part ownership in restaurants which people unwittingly patronize.

Doesn’t Soros know that Halliburton is evil? That’s what the liberals constantly say about that company.

I do contract work for Halliburton, their business is booming right now, so, while I hate to see Soros make a good investment, he is probably making a pretty good one with Halliburton.

Dinosaur BBQ is a top rated NY establishment. 25% stake.
Mastro’s Steakhouse chain in Arizona.

Who knows what other small business holdings they have?

Well, I’ve heard repeatedly from liberals that Halliburton was evil because :

1. Dick Cheney used to be in their top management.
2. They got no-bid contracts from the Defense Department during the Bush years.
3. Some employees of theirs were caught up in some criminal or unethical activity, which was never defined by the liberals. They just know it’s an evil company.

It’s funny how Obama extending their contracts is a non-story. Apparently it’s okay to do business with an evil company if a liberal president okays the contracts. Perhaps only the contracts under the Bush administration reflected an evil company.

I have a hard time keeping up with the liberal criteria of who is good and who is bad.

It’s hard to tell if Soros is investing to make these stocks, or break them. He’ll make money, even when the currency and commodities do not. Sometimes that’s how he profits.

Soros invests in Haliburton and Gilead , the Donald Rumsfiled Tamiflu corp.

MSM -DNC-Soros press is very quite about this.

Does Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld own Tamiflu stock?
