Grand design programs and proposals like “Obamacare” and the “Ryan plan” are very easy to run AGAINST in elections —to wit, the 2010 Republican landslide was largely about opposition to Obamacare.

The Ryan plan gives Demoviks a simple target for 2012. And what are the chances that the Ryan plan will ever really be adopted? You are risking everything for something that will probably never happen anyway.

The Republicans would be better served to keep away from these things and just talk about spending reductions, regulations cuts, more domestic drilling, sealing more of the border and deporting more illegals, things that can be done incrementally.

I know I’m in the minority here, but Trump was half correct about this. The lack of a Dem plan was a great political issue; the presentation of a Republican plan is likely to backfire.

And the fact that the Ryan plan is a good one on substance is probably irrelevant. Anyone here remember Reagan’s “new federalism”—?? It was a great idea too.

What about doing what’s right for a change?

All the above things you mentioned goes without saying.... but MEDICARE, MEDICAID and SOCIAL SECURITY are the big 3 that will ruin this country. That day is closer than we think...
