Considering they just voted not to increase oil production at the OPEC conference - despite our wishes - we shouldn’t feel compelled to vote millions of dollars and precious American lives to garrison their country any longer. The job is done.
The other day, when I read they voted "no" to an increase, I told my husband we should just say, "Fine. See, ya! And by the way, here's our bill for services rendered!"
I disagree. They're next-door neighbors to a board-certified Axis of Evil (AoE) leader in the mullahs' regime. We keep a significant combat force in Korea for the same reason, and a similar consideration should guide us here.
There's no reason permanently to station four divisions in Iraq or anything like that, but a rightsized force, intelligently deployed (hard for the jihadis to get to, without our seeing 'em coming 10 miles off) and reasonably well dug-in, might be a useful counter to anything the mullocracy might try to pull.
