What Does Dayton Propose to Cut? Does He Know?

Here is a very brief and startling exchange between Sen. Mike Parry (R-Waseca) and Minnesota Management & Budget Jim Schowalter.

On June 7th, weeks after Dayton vetoed the budget, a frustrated Sen. Parry asked for details of the Governor's planned cuts so the legislature has a place to start negotiations--asking "what are you going to cut?"

Commissioner Schowalter reiterated Dayton's plan to "find a way to work together...to meet in the middle" and said that he could not give "details for a proposal that do not exist."

Why does this proposal not exist? That is outrageous, odd and irresponsible. Please call or email Governor Dayton. Ask him for the details of his planned cuts.

AFSCME is spending $300,000 on an ad campaign to support Gov. Dayton.

Alliance for a Better Minnesota (click to see who funded this group in the 2010 elections) is spending up to $1 million on ads to balance the budget with tax increases. You've seen the ads.

MoveOn.org introduced a petition to support Governor Dayton's "balanced" position.

The Republican budget increases spending by 12%. And all we hear about are cuts. And the stubborn republican’s unwillingness to “compromise”.

It’s like I’m living in an insane asylum.

Why do you keep posting articles in the Activism sidebar that don't belong there?

Minnesota voters sure have a soft spot for putting the mentally challenged into high public office, don't they?

And it is supposed to be one of the best educated states in the union.

I should note that the only way he got elected is that a phony third party candidate dragged just enough votes away from the Republican. A very popular and effective democrat strategy that needs to be addressed somehow.
