Texas agency: Authorities take gunfire on border

Texas authorities said suspected drug runners in Mexico began shooting at U.S. law enforcement agents from across the Rio Grande on Thursday, forcing the U.S. officers to return fire and injuring at least three of the suspects on the other side of the border.

Few details about the early morning shootout in Hidalgo County were immediately available. The shootout began after U.S. agents patrolling in boats tried to seize a drug load on the Rio Grande, Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Tela Mange said.

Mange said she could not disclose whether any U.S. officers were struck or injured. She said the agents came under "heavy fire" but would not say how long the ensuing shootout lasted.

Authorities said Mexican officials were notified about two "drug-laden" boats that were abandoned after the shootout.

Wow, I’m amazed. They didn’t fire back with beanbag shells, clearly.

Oh, the late Charlie Askins Jr would love to be in on that! HE would show them how to clean up the border with a smile on his face!

Arm up fellow Texans, it’s coming to a place near you. When good men do nothing, what happens? Well, we know the answer to that one. Time to get serious and protect our own families if those who are in charge won’t do it.

Our strength and liberty come from God not government, our forefathers knew this, why is it necessary to relearn what they taught us by EXAMPLE so long ago? Time to stand up for what is right, not what is expedient nor to appease, time to be adults and take care of ourselves and each other of like mind.

We need to militarize the border and eliminate without prejudice these criminals.

We have become a nation of wussies.

We use our military capacities to protect every other country in the world except our own.

Screw Mexico.

The biggest curse we have is Mexico as a neighbor.

And I have to ask conservatives why they tolerate this behavior from Mexicans when they would never in a million years tolerate this coming from an Arab or Muslim country?

These criminal gangs are no less a threat to us than Muslim terrorists.

Indeed, if you look at Mexican criminal gangs in their totality and their affects on the US, they are a BIGGER threat than Muslim terrorists.

It would help if we didn’t prosecute Border Patrol every time they use any kind of force against the enemy. When I say enemy, I mean it.

Got a call from my Dad a little while ago...He got an email from his girlfriends son who is a DPS trooper (flight officer) who was in on the party there this morning...Not too many details yet...But the firefight was pretty intense in his opinion...

I have a good feeling that thigns are getting more and more out of control if things like this are starting to happen with increased proclivity and ferociousness...

The recent supoena;s Congressmand Issa is about to issue for the ATF’s failed “Gunwalker” program is going to blacken a lot of eyes of those knuckleheads who armed up the cartels recently...And had the gall to blame civilian purchases and gunstore venues for the firearms getting into Mexico...

I honesly see a DMZ type solution to be the ony way to get this under control, if it can be allowed to work...

Maybe we should offer secret bombing missions along the Mexican border like we do for our Yemeni allies.

This is a great book on the subject by a former Army Lt. Col. who’s career involved war strategic planning.

http://www.amazon.com/Provide-Common-Defence-Christopher-Hatley/dp/0981721400
This book is different than many on the market because it outlines solutions for many policies that are allowing our enemies to exploit our nation because we are not securing our border with Mexico. This product defines the threats coming to America since our southern border is not protected. There are enormous costs to American taxpayers resulting from the government’s inaction on this problem. The author takes the reader through the military’s war planning steps, called the military decision-making process, so the reader can see the analysis that leads to the author’s conclusions and recommendations. These recommendations are then formulated into a detailed, comprehensive plan of action for the United States to implement. If the U.S. implements the plan, the problems on America’s southern border with Mexico would end permanently
Lt.Col. (U.S. Army, ret.) Christopher Hatley is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, the Command and General Staff College and the Air Warfare Center. A twenty-seven-year veteran of the United States Army, he taught military decision-making processes to officers and enlisted personnel at the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and the Air Warfare Center at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

When did the U.S. not feel that the military on the border was a good idea? Like having a undefended border with a third-world nation prone to instability was a mark of pride.

It’s just barely ok that the Canadian border is as open as it is.

The narco gangs have control of Northern Mexico. They have taken on and defeated the Mexican Army in several pitched battles. Mexico City will not admit that they have been defeated. They keep on with more bs that they have the cartels on the run. Bull.
The cartels have been pushing the envelope to see just what Washington will do. So far their answer is that dc will not stop them and will punish Americans for even bringing up the subject. So, us border states are on our own.
We may end up in a situation where a bunch of Texas deer hunters organize to keep the cartel armies south of our border. DC not only isn’t going to help, but will work to prosecute us for protecting our families and our property.

So be it. If it comes to that, I and quite a few of my FRiends will be ready. We may be old and slow, but dammit, if our country won’t defend us, we will have to do it ourselves.

Theses were Perry’s Texas Rangers exchanging fire with the Mexicans.

Beangbag shells against live fire? These rangers are armed to the teeth, they look more like soldiers then traditional rangers, and they managed to wounded 3 of the Mexicans on the Mexican side of the border.
